New to the forums and just acquired a Peugeot road bike. This is one of my 1st ventures into the world of classic and vintage cycles and I want to learn more about what I have.

I believe it to be a 70's vintage based on some research I've done but am not sure. I know its not a PX10. Here are some of the parts it has:

Simplex Der's front and rear, stem mounted shifters (also Simplex), DEA Super chrome rims (27x1 1/4) w/ Normandy hubs, Lyotard Pedals, Weinmann 610 brakes w/ Weinmann levers. The seat tube says "CADRE ALLEGE"

I have attached some pics so you can see the logos and graphics. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

UO-8 or successor (UO-9?), circa 1977. I believe the externally lugged frame means it is pre-1980, and the decals and cotterless cranks indicate post-1975.

I was also think 1977-1978. I got to looking at the wheels after I posted here and notice a little 1977 stamped on the rim. I also figured it was late 70's due to the lack of cottered crank arms.

Thanks

Cotterless cranks indicate UO9. Cranks would likely be Stronglight TS three arm spider, if original equipment. The UO9 had steel rims. If the crank is marked "Peugeot" and you have alloy rims, prolly a UO10, although I've not seen one with that decal scheme yet.

I think you and John E are right on the dating.

I concur with a late 1970s UO9.

Poguemahone, I have seen UO10 with these graphics, however in this case we know it's not a U010 as 64deville mentions chrome rims in the original post. Another clue that is proabably not a U010 are the stem shifters. I believe the U010, being more upscale, only came with downtube shifters. At least all the ones I've seen used downtube shifters.
