View Full Version : Reason to eat

I've noticed that here in America (at least where I come from) there are certain reasons people eat.

"I'm hungry!" is the most common.

"It's time to eat (finally!)"

Then there's, "I have a craving for...(insert evil fattening food.)"

Or, "I'm bored, let's raid the fridge. There's nothing to do."

How about, "The stress is too much. Let's eat!"

Finally, there's the strange sleepwalking illness that drives people to eat while they are completely asleep.

All of these are valid in my personal experience, except the last. If this has happened, I'm not supposed to remember it, anyway.

But I've also noticed the effect cycling has had on the way I look at eating. Now, I try to eat because, "I need power," or, "I need nutrition." Too often I see people eating stuff they can't possibly use!

Eating just to eat makes about as much sense as working just to work, if you didn't need the money. (But I still do it, sometimes! :D)

For the most part the "I'm bored, lets eat" is the one
that gets me in the most trouble.
After cycling I just let my body deceide what it wants.
After doing HHH I wanted cheese (well I also had a
huge hankering for Beef Jerky, but that was for the salt)
so I listened.
My definition of a good job, one that I enjoy is one that
I would do even if I didn't get paid.

I almost always crave salt too after a ride. Olives or dill pickles. I thought I was the only weird one. ;)

Marty I get a craving for Micky D's fries and a Big Mac after my long rides.

In other countries, I suppose, people eat for no reason at all? :p

You said "Guacamole"...shame shame...now I have to go to the store.
