I've noticed that here in America (at least where I come from) there are certain reasons people eat.
"I'm hungry!" is the most common.
"It's time to eat (finally!)"
Then there's, "I have a craving for...(insert evil fattening food.)"
Or, "I'm bored, let's raid the fridge. There's nothing to do."
How about, "The stress is too much. Let's eat!"
Finally, there's the strange sleepwalking illness that drives people to eat while they are completely asleep.
All of these are valid in my personal experience, except the last. If this has happened, I'm not supposed to remember it, anyway.
But I've also noticed the effect cycling has had on the way I look at eating. Now, I try to eat because, "I need power," or, "I need nutrition." Too often I see people eating stuff they can't possibly use!
Eating just to eat makes about as much sense as working just to work, if you didn't need the money. (But I still do it, sometimes! :D)
