Hi,

I live in Marquette, Michigan(Upper Peninsula) and I just bought a Gary Fisher Big Sur 2004 a few months ago.

Last winter I rode an old Schwinn Hurricane. I'd like to know if I put fenders on my Gary Fisher and clean the bike frequently if it won't get screwed up by the winter and snow?

My Schwinn bike is in terrrible shape and needs a new chain, among other things and is really slow. I'd prefer to ride my Gary Fisher but I would be willing to put like $100 into my Schwinn if it needs to be used during the winter.

Thanks

The choice is up to you! Personally I wouldn't take a bike that nice on a slushy salt covered road or even in the snow for that matter, but that is just me. I bought a $170 Trek 4300 off ebay for my winter ride. I don't know how old your hurricane is but if it has fricition shifting and old technology i would just pickup an entry level bike with new technology.
