Just moved to Oahu, Hawaii a couple months ago and am interested in getting into mountain biking again. When i lived in Monterey CA i rode about 4 days a week in Fort Ord, that was 6 years ago and my bike doesn't fit, i was 12.
I need some advice regarding what type of bike to look for.. i haven't kept up with anything regarding bikes in years! would prefer a used bike, more for the $$. roughly $500-800. doesn't need to be full suspension. I'm 6 ft 2 about 180 lbs, what size would fit? ANY advice or suggestions welcome.

If you are going to be trail riding and doing some more technical riding it's best to have the smaller frame so you can manouver the bike better. For commuting and just normal everyday riding around you could go a bit bigger. I'm just under 6'1" and ride a 19.5" frame that might even be a bit bigger than I'd prefer for trails and harder riding. 19.5" might be perfect for you for trails and technical stuff but you'll have to try and see.
You can find a pretty nice bike for $800 used. Type of bike totally depends on what type of riding you are doing. Mountain biking has sprouted into alot of different catagories in the past several years so you'll have to narrow down what you want to do.

I friggen love Hawaii. I was there for 3 weeks in May, got engaged ;)

So beautiful. Lots of nice trails.

Check the $500 bike thread! Lots of comments for the Trek 4500 their. I might be picking one up for my Fiancee in the coming months.
