Kind of interesting looking...Ultegra too (overkill for a cross bike?) But killer price for the spec. I assume its the same as one the the Airbornes before they had to change the name? Wow, now I'm even more confused as to what to get. The road forum guys seem to have a good opinion of the Flyte/Airborne frames?

i dont think ultegra is overkill for cross. 105 is fine, dura ace is fine....it all depends on how much you want to spend and how much you care about weight. most pros are using full dura ace, but they have sponsors.

I have the Arborne Carpe Diem Ti. Same geometry. Nice bike.
The link in my sig. shows it with a compact (34/48) and a rack.
For cross I use a single 42 or a 38 / 46.

The seat tube angle might be a little slacker then usual , so with a non setback seatpost
I still have a setback of approx. 8 cm

That seat collar looks like a huge glob of welding material - is it also a brake cable hanger? The picture of the built-up bike has v-brakes, looks like that's what it's designed for.

That is an attractive price. I'd compare it to the Redline Conquest Pro.

I've been all over the map as to what bike to buy, and I realized the other day that if I can only have one bike for a while, it should probably be a cross-bike. So, I've been out looking at all of the usual suspects: Poprad, Cannondale, Surley, Ibex (cheap! on-line), and then saw this. Spec for spec its way beyond the other bikes. Yet, as with road bikes... buy the frame and not the specs right? Anyone ride this flye/airborne?? I was about to go the cheap-o route and get that Ibex (105 group very similar spec to 'dale and poprad for a lot less)...but I'm not really fond of: 1. generic taiwan frames 2. not getting to ride said generic frame before buying. If i had no cash worries I'd buy the 'dale for the USA made frame. Yet this Flyte is pretty darn cool and it seems like most comments on flyte/airboren seem to be very positive.

I'm watching. For my two cents I would recomend a Fuji Pro. However I did get a discount through my team. There are lots of good bikes for a decent price. I go for decent components and weight ratio. There will always be parts you want to upgrade. Just ride, break them and buy something nicer. It seems that wheels are lacking in most price points (light weight ones). I'm not sure if you have been racing yet. If not, get any bike and get out there. This is my first season and I'm way hooked. I built up a single speed, raced it with the mens C's and won. Jumped to the B's and bought the Fuji. Last week I came in 5th. I'm way stoked. Also got a picture of me in my local paper on an article about cross this week. Too much information. But hey, it's such a cool sport. Good luck

Just as an update - Late... I ended up finding a 2004 fuji Cross Comp Pro used. It has a brand new 9-speed ultegra drivetrain and brifters added (I still think I paid too much). Its been getting mostly road duty now. It seems like a nice bike and its a lot lighter than I expected. I planned on this being my "one" all around bike. Yeah, right...that was until I found a 2003 Colnago Master Light for a good price...now I'm back to 2 bikes :o
