I did... on spring street and Broadway(nyc). After finishing making my delivery (which took 10 minutes) i went to unlock my bike but there was no lock to unlock. The damn chain was around my waist the whole time i went upstairs. lol

i have left my entire key chain with all of my keys in the lock. yikes. badness. thankfully the few times this has happened was in relatively secure areas. sometimes we're not paying close enough attention...

I am too neurotic and obsessive... After locking i check to make sure and sometimes i walk back after i have already double checked.

Same here. My mind's on my lock before I even get off the bike. Although I have fumbled with the chain and end up locking it outside of the frame, but I always notice right away.

HA! I once worked a ten hour shift in downtown (high theft area, needless to say), set my bike in the rack at 7am and got back to it (after visiting with friends, coffee, pizza, beer, etc) around 11pm or so. I wrap the cable around it as many times as is possible and being a warm day didn't think much of the excess I had...cheap bell, ya know?

Yeah, I was lucky...Locked the damn bike to itself and still had a way home...

not cool - I am sure there will be at least two more threads regarding bag color/size (requesting pictures) and then the ubiquitous "which cranks/bb" one also. Today is going to be exciting!

Yeah I spaced out and did the accidental freelock once or twice. Fortunately a friend caught it, he said, "whoah, you're freelocking your bike??" Whoops! I think that was after about 90 miles of riding that day though.

I've come home tired from the ride, set my bike against the wall in my building hallway to unlock my door. then go in and forget bike to take my bike inside. take a shower, eat, go to sleep, wake up and i can't find my bike in my apt... freak out!
i realize i left it outside. luckily it was still there... i had 2 break ins while living there. that building sucked.

Reading this thread this morning cursed me! I read it and thought to myself, "I would never forget to do that...". So I pedal to class which is about 2 miles away and I get there, rack up my bike, look in the bag...and theres no lock. I forgot my U-lock at home. SON OF A *****!! I had absolutley no time to ride back and get it and I had an exam so I couldnt go back. So for an agonzing hour and 15 minutes of thinking my bike is going to get stolen I jet out of the classroom and its still there. What a relief. I will NEVER do that again.

i locked my bmx bike in my old car once. when i woke up the next morning my window was smashed and my cd player was stolen. i was bummed out a little and then remembered i left my $1200 bike was in the back seat. i turned and it was still there. i had never been so happy!

shoulda just taken it into class with you. most of the time people are too surprised to complain. if someone does give you problems, just tell them it's a prop for an acting class you have right after the class you're in.

forgetting your lock is the ****ing worst.. i used to do it entirely too frequently, which would result in a goddamn time trial back home and then back to class... i get so unholy sweaty. i especially love it when i do it in the ****ing rain.
