This evening I read the unfortunate news that the publisher/webmaster/custodian of the Folding Society (http://www.foldsoc.co.uk/home.html) website is retiring in a few short weeks.

On the website's "Latest News" page:

Image is everything
We live in a world (or at least a country) where 'image' is very important. In view of this, I think that it is very unhelpful to the acceptance of folding cycles, and The Folding Society, to have things run by a boring old fart like myself. Therefore, with some regret, I've decided to step down from running things, especially as my 60th is coming up later this year. I certainly haven't lost my enthusiasm for cycling and folders though. Anyway, this means that if The Folding Society and the web site are to continue, someone else needs to volunteer to take it over - I'll be stepping down at the end of October, unless someone wants to take over even earlier. If you are interested in taking the job on, then do please contact me. In the interests of the future of the organisation, I would ask that anyone interested gives some indication of why they want to do the job, as we would not want the organisation to fall into the wrong hands. Since David and Jane Henshaw (now of A to B) created the original Folding Society, and I still think of them as 'owning' the idea, I'd also want to ask them if they were happy with handing it over to anyone who may volunteer.
I find this to be a very sad development, as the Folding Society site has been a valuable resource to me. I hope someone will volunteer to take the site over.

Agreed.

I've learned so much from Mike Hessey over the years. He continues to buy more and more folding bikes it's incredible the addiction! Even though he's partial to the Brompton, I still like reading his stories from England. He's seen the light with the 20' inch over the 16' inch wheel folder but I'm disapointed the recent Dahon he purchased let him down.
