Rides and Races - Boston rides

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

i think the film screening will be over early. there are two screenings and the second starts at 930 so i think they'll be plenty of time

Are you talking about giessel's ride, or the Tuesday night ride? The Tuesday night ride meets at the pit in Harvard Square. I usually show up around 9:45, and I'd like to roll out by 10 (although lately we've been waiting for people...*cough* transplant *cough*).
yeeeeeah, i get over there quick though once i'm out
you won't need to wait for me tonight though, can't make it out

Anyone up for a ride Saturday evening? I can't lead cuz I'm blind so someone else must. And make sure you smell so I can follow your scent. Thanks.
Ride tonight. It's supposed to stop raining before 9, and it might be a tad chilly. I'd like to end up at a show at Great Scott in Allston, but, you know, we can take the long way.

Chris, did you get a new front wheel or what? Nobody takes a taxi hit like Transplant! You all shoulda seen this kid. He's made of iron, or something.

i ended up taking off the front wheel from my beater as a very temporary solution because neither giessel, rutt or myself could get my old tire onto the rim alexi sold me. no good *******.
and gracious thanks to rutt for dropping off the beater last night. i'm dying inside after not riding since saturday.

just save some for meeeeeee
i'd like to get a ride going tonight. any takers?
Man, sers, you don't have much luck getting people to ride with you, huh? I'll try to remedy that as soon as I can.
In the meantime...rain tonight. I'll be there for the ride, probably in full dorky rain gear. I think there are some cool shows again this week.
Two words: Ghettodrome. Tonight.
I'll be there at 10:30 for a little while. Want to get back in the swing of things, since it's been months since I've done some antics on one of my fixed gears...
EDIT: Scratch that. Girlfriend has pushed the big red STOP button on that one.

sorry i missed last night dudes, i was busy killing my lungs and liver.
but such a beautiful day today
no problem, I hear you on the liver, I had a healthy buzz on when I arrived last night. handful of laps later that was gone.
and today in amazing, which made taking the bus to work that much more painful - I'm meeting with non-cycling types after work to go to the MassArt fashion show.
woo! massart! I go there. I've been nearly living there as of late because of reviews actually. Can't wait for the semseter to be over so I can build up a new bike using my tax returns.
I work across the street at WIT... you wouldn't happen to have that aluminium track bike thats always locked up at the MassArt dorm, would you?
nope. white conversion, not at the dorms, usually inside with me in my studio when I'm there.

There are always a lot of hot bikes locked up here at MassArt. I keep mine in my studio, too.
If anyone is interested, I've been told that ZipCars is looking for someone to add to their bike people. My friend works there and the pay is hourly and there is insurance - or at least so I'm told.

Ten people?! Yeesh. Last summer we had fifty or sixty at the height of ghettodroming.

yah it was ridiculous... these people were really lame.
i hope we can get 50 or 60 at some point, that would be insane. or are you not for realzzzzzzzz

No, for real. But a lot were spectators.

i'm for reals about ready to cut myself. 48 hour take home exams are not sexy.
48 hour exams?!? I do not envy you.
I guess that was the one bonus of my studio-based education: no test.
yeah, i like having work confined to 8 hours of my day. then again you get the summer off, no?
Two weeks in a row of rain. Sucks. I already got drenched today. Anyway, I'll be there tonight.
Edit: Oh yeah, I'll be traveling to and from Puerto Rico on the next two Tuesdays, so you all should keep this ride up without me.

and the party doesn't stop
rutt, you're hardcore. even if i didn't have all this work to do, i don't think i'd want to ride in the rain. i suppose its all about the right gear though...
I don't think I qualify for hardcore. Maybe if I went out tonight with the shants and cotton fleece that I was wearing when I got drenched earlier today. Instead I'll be sporting the full waterproof-garbage-bag look: Burley rain jacket, Craft rain pants, and goretex socks.
Good luck to you academic types.

I'll be out-also sporting the encased-in-plastic look.
I vote that tonight's ride have a drip-dry beverage consumption interlude in the middle.
Hmm...we haven't been to the Squealing Pig in awhile....

So, when are the rides around the MIT track?
with this weather? never!
with this weather? never!
Serious cornering + puddles + being blinded by the spray of the person in front of you = no fun.

I have my first machining class tonight, so if it gets out early I should be able to make it.
Weather-wise it looks like there shouldn't be any problems.

if anyone has a chain tool that i can drop by and use, please let me know. i busted up the masterlink on my izumi v and i just need to pop a few links on and rejoin it. i just so happened to break my chain tool a few weeks ago.

I gots a chain tool, its kinda small, and no guarantees if it works on 1/8", if you have 1/8" chain.
You could always stop by at broadway bike and borrow/rent theirs. It's free if it's under 5 min, or its $.75/5mins thereafter.
Let me know and I can meet you somewheres.
thanks man - actually i killed my small chain tool trying to break the izumi v. just found out the bike shop near my work has the park ct-7 so i'm going to go pick that up.
