Rides and Races - Boston rides

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Ride tonight, should be a good one. 10pm at the pit in Harvard Square.
how long do the rides go until?
They've been wrapping up around 11:30-12:00 or so.
Rutt knows best as he's typically the group leader and has an idea of where we're going.
I've been meaning to ask if anyone is doing/has done the Redbones thing (http://www.redbones.com/newsevents.html) next Monday and could fill me in on it a bit more... is there a group ride that goes with it or just kinda a big bike party?
Anyone want to GMap out last night's ride? I have no clue as to the route out to East Boston and am kinda curious as to how roundabout it was.

You guys made it to e-bo (haha) on bikes? Did you have to ride to everett?? I wanted to buy a loft out there but there is no easy way off the island except by car that I know of.
What the route?

last time i went to east boston i took that bridge by sullivan square (malden bridge?) into everett and then took marginal road down to some other bridge that brings you right there.

it was something like that. brian's the one with the map :D
I basically just want to know what the hell that building with all the fans is for...
Here's the route (http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=239009). That crazy building is between miles 10 and 11, on the corner of Robin and Dexter. The overhead shot isn't that great...must be new, with different lighting, because I remember being able to see the fans.
Edit: It would be cool if the pedometer started supporting KML, so we could add markers and pictures to the routes.

i don't really ever post, i mostly just lurk on these forums, but i thought i'd mention this: my best friend/roommate and i each just finished our own first fixed conversions last month, and we're having a blast, but haven't gotten to ride with anyone else who rides fixed - just our local thrift store bike punk friends... neither of us is in boston right now, though i'm nearby (he's in chicago) but when we get back, we'd definitely like to meet some of you guys and go for some rides if we can...
we're not super fast, but we love riding (plus we're really nice guys and easy to get along with) - when we're back in the city (probably not together until school starts in september) would it be cool if we came along for a few group rides?
east boston? i love santarpio's pizza. that and armando's in cambridge and regina in the north end are the best ones. don't argue with me on this.

without a doubt, yes

Summit Hill is bad. Aspinwall Hill [less traffic] and Parker Hill [sketchy and steep] are worse.

where is aspinwall hill? and yeah parker has more cars and imo not really worth it. the access road to the observatory in the blue hills is ****ing out of control though.
for a good hill, go out to arlington and climb to the watertower a few times. that's a good 'un!!:) :)

not sure if I'll make it. I have a sinus infection and rode into work this morning and it completely wiped me out for some reason, might be taking it easy instead.

If you have a bike i can ride during that same time, you can borrow mine. I have to get to work, but I will support the pursuit of fixed gear riding.
I'm posting this here because its the only way I can think of getting this out (if you have ideas let me know):
I found a tallbike laying on the sidewalk by my apartment. I noticed it this morning on my way into work that it was laying in the parking lot behind the Somerville Boys & Girls club and thought "interesting". On my way home it was laying in the sidewalk in front of a house on the same street. When my roommate came home she mentioned that she had seen it, at which point I went and got it. Not sure if it was lifted from a member of SCUL or what, but if someone is looking for it I'd really like to get it back to them. Not sure if people here know anyone in SCUL to let them know, but if they contact me and can describe the bike (its a chopper, should be easy if its theirs) they can come and get it.

i know some people in SCUL and can pass the word along - what's the cross of where you found it?
Boston St. and Washington St.
Thanks for the help.

There's critical mass tomorrow eve- 5:30pm, copley square, but the mass usually leaves after the 5:30 "start".
i wish i could make that, but my boss just put me on evenings. I can't make any weekday events since I work 1:30pm-10pm. It's really a shame because i'd like to ride with y'all.

If anybody's not working tomorrow (this especially means you baxtefer), come and meet me at the squealing pig at 10:50 am for beers, brunch, and the Germany vs. Argentina match!

Ooh, tempting Henry. I'll be working until 1pm, but I'm free after that, and might be jaunting down Huntington at 1:20 or so. Will you still be there? I won't have much time to hang, as I'm leaving for Seattle for the long weekend at 4pm. But I could say howdy.
Maybe I'll drop into the pig on my lunch break, depends on how busy things are at work.
