I will call when we touch down.

I just scored from one of my clients, two velo-vise roof mounts for my rack and he rebuilt my geeked right ergo lever for FREE! Thank you Campagnolo Race Services. I'm elated just wanted to share.

Anyway where do you feel like meeting up Rob?

How about a head count for Saturdays Scenic Tour for Bodily Abuse. I hope you are packing your "Suitcase of Courage".

For those considering the Saturday ride, if you're coming from out of town (Providence, for example), you can crash at my place Friday night so you don't have to drive up while it's still dark Saturday morning.

Eric from MIT is still an unknown.

I'm down for the Saturday ride. I think my friend Jimmy (aka Hollywood) might be interested but he's pretty new on a road bike, so I don't know if he'll be a liability.

I don't care where we meet up. We could do Bukowski's again, or we could do something closer to the track. Or farther away. How's that for decisive?

Bukowski is good, around 9:30... not sure if remember how to get there but I'll figure it out.

stickyfoot
09-22-05, 03:24 PM
Bukowski's is in Inman Square, on Cambridge Street near where it intersects Prospect: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=1281+Cambridge+St,+cambridge,+ma&spn=0.027829,0.060176&hl=en

Hey race results and photos are up for the Midnight Crit from last Friday: http://www.rushinrevolution.com/unioncrit.htm and http://www.moondanceimages.com/mcrit/

I look like a pudgy *******, and there are *far* too many pre-race beer shots of the same guy over and over again. And the only mid-race photo is of the same guy! (I think the bald guy with the camera had a crush.) I thought photographers liked action shots?! This guy should have been stationed on the corners. Much more fun to be had there.

rithem
09-22-05, 03:50 PM
dude I could discuss at length what I think of the photography ... I was suspect of what was going on while we were there. Although I do like the cover shot with me, you and Jeff.

Hollywood as in MIT track Hollywood?

Anyhow, Saturday sort of scares me and I sort of wish I was going and am sort of glad that I have an excuse to not. I haven't been training at all and would probably die after 100 klicks.

Have fun! I promise I'll make it out again one of these days.

stickyfoot

Yeah, MIT track Hollywood. He'll be there tonight. As will Thomas. As will I.

So, I can't make it out tonight (or Saturday, for that matter). However, I would like to get together to all those who are thinking about going to the BF Meat N' Greet (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=139758&page=1) in Chicago to figure out the best way for all of us to get out there. Maybe a ride and drinks on Sunday night? Of course, everyone else is welcome to come along.

Alright I just looked at those pictures from the midnight crit. Dude, what's up with that?

Does anyone think in the last picture the 'man of the hour' (I think his name is Joe) is looking into the camera kind of inquisitively? Almost like he's saying, "Dude, why the **** are you taking so many pictures of me?"

Sounds good to me. Can we pick a new place?

On a separate note, I'm pleased to report that my string of comprehensive losses at the MIT track races remains unbroken.

Bad news, gentlemen. I fell down the steps in front of my house this morning and I think I bruised my tailbone. The ride in to the office did not feel good. rithem, you're still welcome to crash here tonight, but I don't know if I'll be able to go. I'll see how I feel later today.

I don't know how I feel about dangling my tackle between those two rails. But whatever works.

So, what's the status on the ride?

rithem
09-23-05, 11:49 AM
I'm game ... I'm not doing it solo, but if you still want to Rob, lets do it, I know you like challenge. I think Jrowedc will pull through, right Jeff. I have to come up tonight no matter what, to see Alex. If we abandon the ride, no big deal, I'll just bring my Denny up with me and maybe we can booze-crooze. Plus, theres that shindig at Alex's buddies place.

09-23-05, 12:00 PM
All right. I'll take a jaunt to the bike shop to find a cheap replacement rear wheel until I can rebuild my cracked one. Unless anybody has one to spare for this ride...

rithem
09-23-05, 12:54 PM
what do you need shimano or campy cassette free body. I can probably score you one on the cheap from The Hub. 8 -speed or 9-speed or 10-speed not sure if it matters.

stickyfoot
09-23-05, 01:12 PM
Shimano. 8-speed. It's an oldish component group.

rithem
09-23-05, 01:35 PM
Rob $60 for the rear (Shim-8 or 9 Alex dbl/wall shim hub) or $100 for f&r pair let me know I can pick them up on the way out. On sale from $200.

stickyfoot
09-23-05, 01:42 PM
Cool, if you don't mind helping me swap the cassette over since I don't have the necessary tools. I only need the rear. Thanks dude!

No prob. I will bring the necessary hardware. It is a splined freehub with lockring right, like this one?

stickyfoot

I'm pretty sure it's splined but I don't have the wheel with me right now to check for sure. It was built last year though.

The Kancamagus Hwy ride in NH was awesome. Thanks again, rithem, for organizing and driving. I propose we do it again in two weeks so we can enjoy the fall colors. How many people are interested?

stickyfoot
09-26-05, 09:57 AM
I'm down. Probably I'll try to get a new derailleur and shifters before then so I can actually climb in a reasonable gear. Also new tires and brake pads so I can feel safer on those 50mph descents.

4:40 i think. I don't recall exactly. 80 miles almost exactly 16.5 avg.

jrowe

With 5200 ft of climbing.

In other words, we rock.

jrowe
09-26-05, 12:01 PM
No, we don't. In stage 11 of this year's tour, for example, Vinokourov finished 107.5 miles at a pace of 22.5 mph. The stage included 12,600 feet of climbing. He rocks.

I am now officially the saddest human being ever.

jrowe

Well, his climbs were at 6.1 and 6.9% grades. Ours was at 9%, if that makes you feel any better.

I wonder how they'd classify the climbs we did. They were steeper but not as long as the climbs from that stage.

how about this.
http://www.spiderflex.com/images/left_seat_intro_b.jpg

OK, picture of this saddle again - I can not hold it any more.

How is that thing supposed to work? While riding roads I do not care so much for sitting my butt down, but I do care about controlling the bike with the pressure from my inner thigh against the beak of the saddle.

Could this thing use a clip on the rails and a cleat mounted you know where?

rithem
09-27-05, 06:46 AM
ha, you'll have to figure that on out on your own.

i'll get back to you on this. too busy right now

bostontrevor
09-27-05, 09:15 AM
Those are basically designed for people who are a) unaccustomed to riding so they have very tender undersides and/or poorly adjusted positions or b) health concerns which prevent them from using a conventional saddle.

They're designed for a very upright position and casual riding style.

so whats the over-all summary of the NH ride? it was basically in the waterville valley ski area, right? also, how bad were the climbs? I would really like to try it, but i dont feel i'm at the level i should be , to be able to make it up through mountains, when climbing parker hill ave gives me some trouble, although it prolly is 11% though.
