Can't make it. The aforementioned sister and niece arrive tonight. Have fun and beware the BMWs!

Oh, and don't forget I have your prizes, Henry. You'll especially enjoy the IF thong that you won. Next time there's a naked trackstand comp, I expect you to be rocking those bad boys.

So I talked to Nick (Chuck Norris on the forum) and while we were working at the checkpoint on Sunday we entered a name draw thingy at Kings and he won. Wanted to get a bunch of people from the forums together, guess he can invite up to 100 people or something. Asked me to post it on here, and if you're interested give him a PM. The date is still up in the air as there are some options available.

Same deal as last week: 10pm at the Christian Science fountain. The rides are a lot less "directed" due to the lack of Brian, but we manage. New people and non-fixie riders are always welcome so bring a friend.

How long do the rides last?

hm it really depends... today we rode out to like bc and then through brighton/allston and then to harvard square (some dudes were fighting each other while this jazz band played) and then kinda split off before midnight.. i think the week before we just rode to downtown, got beer and went to castle island and drank. i wanna try something new next week if possible, but we shall see.

damn i wish i had known that would be the route. i would have met up with you guys. the tail end of my commute is down comm ave from newton to brighton.

on a slightly related note, some guy cheered "go fixed gear!" at me on my way to work through newton today

I was thinking we should do a six-pack ride (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=174639&highlight=six+pack).

ok, is this weather normal?
that's the third time in less than a month i've been caught in a torrential downpour. Bottom bracket-deep puddles are getting a bit annoying.

no such thing as normahl weathah in bahston, son...

in the summer we get a lot of flash thunderstorms, especially if the humidity is high. storm drains inevitably back up all over the city, given that they dump into the charles (which is already high). there are two bb deep puddles on my commute when it rains. i just improvise my way around them.

Yeh it poured like this last Friday. I got a heads up on the downpour from Pixel. The storms here seem to kind of come out of nowhere (well actually the west, but really fast). I got home just in time.

what's the deal tomorrow with mouton?

someone give me a heads up @ 617-275-9342 (sers=steve)

I hope tomorrow clears up. Ill see you guys around town.

Sers I think I included you on a PM. Got the bike packed and ready to go, I get in mad early (kid.) So Ill be putting my bike together on a curb somewhere downtown at about 8am*, and up for whatever when you guys are.

*Is there any particular insanity in this plan that I should know about? there are a few parks near the hotel so i was thinking id just camp out on a bench and start putting parts together.

critical mass was very wet. my cell got fried in the process so I'm not sure I'll be able to meet up with mouton & co. tomorrow until I get it replaced (hopefully by noon or soon after, but not too sure on that).

I'd like to add that I got the best voicemail from Transplant last night and have saved it for prosperity...

Argh...I'm kind of bummed that I dropped the ball on weekly night rides. Tuesday night was my only regularly free night, and then all of a sudden it wasn't. Good to see that there's a weekly ride, though. Thursdays are tricky for me to make, but hopefully I'll see you guys there soon.

i know this might sound dumb...
but how possible do yall think going into the closed down tunnels is?
and how bad of an idea not taking into account the falling concrete

My sister said there's cops manning the barricades at the entrances. There's a lot of work/inspecting going on...

Alright, pschmidt is in town (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=215462) until Thursday, so lets get something together. I have class tonight until 9 but can ride after that; perhaps tomorrow would be better for other people, which is fine with me. Speak up and lets ride.

Not that I'd advocate trespassing, but I hear Spy Pond has some nice swimming after dark on sweltering nights...

fatbat
08-01-06, 09:25 AM
I'd be down for a ride either tonight or tomorrow.

giessel
08-01-06, 09:38 AM

I'm definitely down for tonight. Shall we say 9:30 or 10 at the pit? Or somewhere else?

pixel
08-01-06, 10:17 AM
10pm at the pit sounds great for sentimental reasons. late nite swimming excursion to Spy Pond sound pretty ****in' good.

08-01-06, 11:36 AM
I'm free after 9 tonight. Could someone give me directions to the Pit? I'm at One Layfayette (The Hyatt).

pixel
08-01-06, 11:41 AM
I'll be leaving Longwood around 9 and heading towards Somerville to ditch my laptop before the ride. If you'd like I could meet you somewhere as long as you don't mind the side trip.

pschmidt
08-01-06, 11:50 AM
Perfect. Where would be best to meet? I'll figure out how to get there.

10pm at the Pit it is. I'll have pschmidt in tow.

Giessel: did you want to meet up and ride over the river with us? drop me a line later.

stickyfoot
08-01-06, 01:08 PM
I'll probably be free for this after all! If I'm running late, I'll give a call or something.

Alright, its the typical 10pm at the Christian Science fountain tonight. Last time I checked it still might rain this evening, but I think its only a 60% chance.

I've got some company in town so I can't make it, but be sure to hype kings on sunday from 4-7.

I'm down for Sat Midnight.

I also wanted to make sure that it is known that after the Kings billiards event there will be a ride. And if anyone else feels like it, we might want to have one before.

I'm down for whatever, I just don't fell like organizing anything.

I'm down for a saturday night right, just name the place.
