Rides and Races - Boston rides

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
yeah, it's not very far at all. haha. oh well, it's not like there aren't other places to ride.

you should have been arrested along with me
A handful of us are going to see Rutt's band play tonight at Charlie's Kitchen, 9pm, 21+, $5. Here's the lineup: Hallelujah the Hills, Hands & Knees, Keys to the Streets of Fear. Probably some riding involved at some point.
And if only I cared enough to get the pic of Henry in the skinsuit off my phone...

the only 7-11's that I know of are at comm ave and harvard ave, on comm ave & washington, on beacon st right off of washington, another one on beacon about 2 blocks towards coolidge (same side of street) and another one on brookline ave across the street from the jocelyn diabetes center, and another one at beacon & park drive and......
this could get funny if you picked 7-11's in obscure locations

There is one at tremont and st james/kneeland, another one hidden near winthrop square, I forget where that one is. Another one in brighton on washington street across the street from oak square pizza. one at audubon circles[go away from fenway by the best buy towards beacon, cross beacon and its on the right. Thats a nice hidden one. its by some BU dorms. They are hidden everywhere.
or conversely, pick 5 of the the 7-11's on beacon - there have to be at least 40 between downtown and newton

There's one in Beacon Hill, on Charles St. doesn't exactly look like your typical 7-11

The track was so much fun tonight. Most fun I have had in a loooong time.
**** yeah it was! Hooked like crack!
just to point out, someone already did a 7-11 race, and i believe they were talking about doing it again around the end of the summer.

alright, this Thursday is WithNail's last thursday ride before he heads off to Chicago. in true Loud spirit, I'm making this Thursday's ride a 6-pack ride. if you want to participate, bring a 6 of your favorite brew and be ready for good times! we'll meet at the regular location and divy everything up and take off from there.

for the race...we were thinking somewhat well known 7-11s because we need people there to hand out slurpees and **** so its not like 15 kids running into a 7-11 and all that..so they will be well known, but still spread out. i mean we'll say where they are, just not street names.
maybe $2 to enter to help pay for slurpee's? we'll have people outsdie the 7-11s with big gulps and shot cups..
maybe speical secret prize for winner?
(7-11 t-shirt anyone????)

Just printed up and cut flyers for Corporate Shakedown on 9/9. Nice design thanks to helpful bikeforums reader. Anyways, I can pass out some at CM Friday, but am wondering if anybody is headed to New York or Philly for races anytime soon. Would happily bring you some flyers cut and paperclipped together ready to be spread around.

Yeah, reminder:
The 1st Annual Loud Beer Ride:
tonight @ 10pm, Christian Science Center fountain
bring a 6 pack of beverages of the alcoholic persuasion unless you're edge, bring a 6 pack of something for yourself/other edge kids.
Why? Because Withnail likes to ride bikes and drink, and he's leaving for Chicago soon, so lets give'em what he wants! Lets just hope its not raining out.

WELL..
we'll meet at the brigham circle 7-11 (mission hill) at 530ish, and depending on how many people show up race at 630ish. you'll find out the CPs when you get there....
and the prize for the winner will be better than cash.
and it should be fun and who cares who wins, we'll drink tons of slurpee!!

Thursday night was good times. Will have to join other rides like that.
The word is getting out about Corporate Shakedown (Cambridgeside Galleria/Memorial Drive pond, reg at 230, race at 330). Should be a good day for all things bicycle. There will be a crit at 8PM that night (details coming later) and a film by one of Boston's own at the Coolidge http://www.doubleyellowmovie.com/ Plan on spending the day going from Corporate Shakedown, to possibly a bbq, to the crit, to the midnight movie.
I talked with a few people who were into road riding and mentioned the arrowed routes all around Boston. These definitely make riding the roads outside of town much more fun, as you don't have to be constantly looking at a map and figuring out what unmarked road is what. Here are those cue sheets, some have arrows, some don't, go down to local rides and choose region:
http://www.crw.org/CueSheets/index.htm
Finally, I figured this would make some people's day:

only 6 people ending up showing.. and 2 of them were going to work check points..
instead of 5 check points we decided it would be best to just race to the final one (brigham circle to long warf) and then drink one big slurpee once we all got there. it was pouring rain and bombing huntington was tons of fun. needless to say greg beat everyone there, but not by much. but he still had a 22oz slurpee to drink. which is where he lost.
besides being totally soaked, it was a lot of fun. and we want to do it again only with more people, and maybe in the rain too

i need someone to take a room at my house, like yesterday... know anyone still looking? the person who was supposed to move in had a family emergency and can't take the room. it's a one year lease. must be Awesome.
oh, and i have nine stiches on my chin now... today sucked.
**** man, thats not in line with your "eh, gonna need a stich or two" comment. and I don't know why I was so confused when you called last night, I was kinda off-point all evening.

Guess who did a faceplant after colliding with a pedestrian downtown? This guy! So fear not, Transplant, you and I will both be sporting cool chin scabs for a while. No stitches for me, but the cellphone-sized scrape on my elbow makes up for it.
I'll be in Seattle this weekend. Trying to decide if I should take my bike or give my shoulder and knee some time to heal up. Thinking about riding Kangamangus with Rithem next weekend. Any interest in that from you dudes with road bikes who aren't afraid of some friggin mountains?!
