Rides and Races - Boston rides

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

tonight, meet @ 10pm: the Christian Science Center fountain, leave once enough people are there to make it worthwhile.
race-wise I'm planning on doing the midnite crit and the evacuate boston race. 5:30am isn't going to happen as I'm not that motivated.
haha, 5:30am is a rough time for a race anyways. Let alone on a weekend with two other races.

the highlight of my evening: just before walking in my front door, i answered a phone call from my best friend/room-mate: "uh, hey... i just wanted to make sure you were ok. since, you know, you went out bike riding in the middle of the night. with a bunch of strangers... who you met on the internet."
and it was TRUE!
i had a really rad time tonight... expect to see me next week, hopefully with a friend or two... good to meet all you dudes, and i'm looking forward to meeting more of you!

@fatbat, I sent you a PM about those wool caps with ear flaps you were talking about. My ears want to know (or at least they will very soon).
Anyone know how long the evac boston is going to be (miles)? 5-10, 10-15, 15+.... I'm new to alley cats, is there a norm?
alleycats, crits, bbq, why am i not in boston?
Eva Stabs

scurran says (via email) 20 miles. i don't know if there's a norm. 10-15 is probably average based on past experience.

ack. so a few of us stayed up all night to go to the morning crit, which was pretty awesome, actually (the staying up all night part).'cept the crit was a no go! we waited from 5:15 to 6:15 for alexi to show up, and he never came. does anyone know if he's ok? we got a wake-up call from him around 5, but then he never came. so we sort of muttered and jumped around to stay warm, and passed around a bottle of french cider someone had brought with them, and then took a slow, um, "victory lap" around the park before caravaning back to cambridge.
3 awesome people from broadway bikes showed up with matching lights, fenders, and bells, which sort of made it worth it. and we saw some nutty runners in short shorts.

Unfortunately I have to miss the alley cat for a send off party for my friend. :( Hope everyone has fun!!
Whats up everyone I think I woulda been DFL if I have finished the alley cat... I missed the mystic river channel stop (I ended up in a tunnel at some point, I'm pretty sure bike weren't supposed to be there because it seemed kinda like a interstate) and the Lincoln St. and Almay St. stops... I had fun while it lasted! If only I knew boston better... see you guys another time
Maybe next time I won't get ass backwards lost.
I should have gottin someone's cell number..

What were the checkpoints for the race? How many people shows? what does the spokecard look like? and so on. Scott, you probably know who I am from the zelda race.
wish i could have made the crit and the race, but i got laid off on friday and i'm still feeling pretty raw about it. especially since my latest project (no not the ghetto 7.5lb bike) is now on hiatus.
