Rides and Races - Boston rides

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Sure were a lot of flashbulbs at the crit - anyone have links to some pics?
Pretty awesome race, especially the spectator induced extra laps.

dear bikeforums,
i was drinking all day today. like for serious from 1ish until 1ish tonight. thank you for the crit and the alleycat. rob still beat me at the crit because he's god on two wheels, but i don't feel bad for sprinting him out on the last 100 yards at the alleycat when he was taking it easy. haha... and jacob, you drank those two cases of monster by now, right?

all right ladies. I think it's time to take back the ghettodrome and show these boys who's boss! seriously. here's my idea.
LADIES NIGHT
Wednesday night(s)
9:30ish
MIT track
meet up & ride
I'd like to start a regular night where women can ride with each other and race against each other. My hope is to a) build community amongst like-minded women who find themselves in a male-dominated sport/sub-culture, b) create a safe space for women who may have never raced or ridden track before to train with other women, c) incubate the experienced and the inexperienced alike so that we all feel more confident about riding and racing in mixed gender (ie, male dominated) settings, and d) have a **** load of fun riding bikes.
If there's enough interest, maybe eventually we can do some distance rides, have some mechanic's workshops, or organize our own events (other ideas?). I know winter is fast approaching but maybe we can try it out for a few weeks to see who's interested and then kick it into high gear for the spring.
This Wednesday after we ride maybe we can caravan over to TT the Bear's to see Brian's band play. (Brian who won 2nd in the alley cat plays trumpet for a band called Hallelujah the Hills, which, he says, "is not a Christian band.")
holler back! and spread the word.

Oh Chris, you wacky *******. Next time I'll know to give no mercy on the end stretch of an alleycat.
I'll gladly cheer on some femme fatale action on the track and beyond.
Yeah, I work till 10, but would be willing to cheer on ladies. Heck, I'll bring some beer too as I have a lot or work to do if I ever want to catch up to Chris.

Cheer in your mind
so a lot of people have expressed interest in going out to Chicago for the race. I have one fairly small car so thats not going to work. I was thinking if maybe enough of us got together we could rent a van and make an adventure out of this. we could split the price of the van and gas even between the whole gang to keep costs low. plus more people means less driving time for each.
Chris and I looked at driving out there. 17 hours each way plus whatever traffic we'd hit. we were thinking leave early AM Thursday the 9th and return early AM Sunday the 12th. 4 days total. there will most likely be copius amounts of hardcore and/or metal being played during this trip. sleeping arraignments would have to be figured out too, but right now lets figure out whos going and how we're getting there.
people who are definately going:
Aaron (me)
Chris
Rob
people that have shown interest in going (list edited to keep up-to-date):
Cara
Rich
Greg
Steven
Tim
Sean (maybe)
Eric
Lodri (maybe)
this isht needs to get planned this week, as I don't like waiting to the last minute when there are other people besides myself involved. plus people need to take time off of work, etc. so if you're interested speak up.
oh theres going to be cheering...

Alright guys well I'm in the boat with you now, seeing how Ann's going to Seattle that weekend. Any fine young women want to take out a handsome, unemployed (for the moment), metal loving young man? Oh well..
Oh yah I have a foosball table! So we can get drunk and yell at eachother and piss off my hipster downstairs neighbors.
I don't have couches for everybody but I do have plenty of floor space!
oh man, you should have seen the drunken pre-crit foosball action on Friday. you would have been proud.

Will someone please PS Aaron nattyfabbing on this unicorn?
Good times over the weekend. I have Chris to thank for peer-pressuring me into dropping a little cash on a helmet cam and letting me hold his wheel for a lot of laps at the crit. I originally blamed him for my cheating on (edit) Saturday and then decided to blame all of the pedal scrapes. Now that I think about it though, I seem to always seem to find a way to cheat at these things. To the like 3 people that I actually beat-- I'm sorry. I'll make it my goal to not cheat next time.
And to those kids who want to see a 15 second vid of the race on Friday pm me your email.
I originally blamed him for my cheating on Sunday
what happened on Sunday?

And also, throw me on the tentative list for Chicago.

Have Chris/Alexi/Erik been to ZuZu the last oh, 4 nights in a row?

I am an easy going lass and am pretty much down for road trips. Oooo we can stop in Rochester and eat amazing Rochester food! Garbage Plates (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garbage_plate) for everyone!
And also,
-Did you get the helmet? You best not get the white one, it would be far too confusing!
-(edit)The swobo hat wasn't what I was looking for. I may start a real thread about it to figure out if what I want exists/or just call Walz and get a custom/or findsomeone in Boston with a sewing machine and try to make my own.(/edit)

Tonight could be a good night to discuss the basics of Chi-town. Those who are interested and live in the city should show up or let someone thats going to be there know that you're willing to go along with whatever horrible descisions we make.

1. Yup, ordered it today. White was the lesser of two evils though. However, the idea of someone confusing one of us for the other is amusing.
2. I've got a sewing machine you're more than welcome to use. I also know someone that takes on small sewing jobs from time to time if you'd rather go that route.

I have the ability to print large amounts for free from work so if you need me to print spoke cards or handouts I'm down with it... I can also laminate for cheap.
You should have all the stop be cementaries.. that would be fitting...
