Oooh... Nice. One of Sam's bags?

I got a weird flat today myself. I'm sure I had my tires up to full pressure because I'd just rebuilt them, but we were headed down Atlantic Ave and I pinch-flatted the rear on a raised granite crosswalk. Of course I haven't had a flat in about forever, so I decided to roll light today and leave the bag at home. Luckily Jacob bailed me out as I executed the world's slowest tire change.

Then I neglected to tuck my laces in on the left shoe and they got wrapped up coming down Bowdoin St. Yoinks! Let me tell ya, my new shoes have some mighty strong laces. Stronger than the little loops that are supposed to hold them to the shoe. :/

Reminder people: Tomorrow night at 8 at the Squealing Pig we say goodbye to Trevor. He's going to get sh1tfaced and smash some wheels for us.

stickyfoot
11-16-05, 11:57 AM
He can smash my wheel all he wants. I already smashed it up in Chicago. Anybody want to build me a new one?

I'll probably be late (perhaps quite late) for the gathering. How long will the party last?

I'll be dropping by tomorrow, but I haven't ridden in a week (got my wisdom teeth removed last week) so I doubt I'm in the mood for racing or anything. I can't even drink or eat pie.

stickyfoot, I'll build you a new wheel if you get me the parts, I just finished a nice new front for myself (dura-ace road hub laced to a 27-inch CR18, long story) if you want to inspect my worksmanship. And I'm building up a spiffy new wheelset at the moment anyways. I'm waiting on a tensiometer, though, because I'm getting real tired of tensioning by pitch.

I don't know how late or how awesome I'm going to get because I realized I'm supposed to be setting up a video link with South Africa in the morning, I'll probably wrap things up by midnight or so at the latest. I will smash your wheels though.

So where you goin' Trevor?

bostontrevor
11-16-05, 08:53 PM
Dublin to party with the leprechauns and learn the secrets of search.

I'll be working for a certain well-known search engine, email, and maps (among other things) provider whose omniscience I must now fear as a mere toady in the corporate ranks.

hammye
11-16-05, 09:49 PM
Search? Why would I ever want to use that function?

What are the chances we could push this back a bit, like, say, to 9-ish?

bostontrevor

Umm.. sure, whatever. I'm not exactly on a tight schedule.

Fine, 8 it is. (But just to mess with you, I'm showing up at 10 now.)

Hey, does anybody know a good way to bike from downtown to Quincy, near the Braintree T stop? I've never ridden that far south, so I don't know what the road quality is like, etc. Oh, and the better the route I find, the faster I can make it to Trev's send off!

rithem

Dude I want the black one. I'll take a small, please. Bring it tonight, if you can. I'm wearing my Chicago T-shirt today.

rithem

Why doesn't Jesse just sponsor us? We'll all be rolling in uniform after tonight!

stickyfoot

the red line allows bikes on off peak hours.

I'll be coming back during off-peak hours, but I'll be riding down during peak hours, so I'll still need to get down there. It's only 9-10 miles. If I had a good route, it wouldn't be too much effort.

bostontrevor
11-17-05, 09:38 AM
Hotness, I'll take a large, I think. (Maybe bring a L & XL... I have abnormally wide shoulders so a lot of times a L doesn't fit.)

bostontrevor
11-17-05, 09:45 AM
As for getting in and out of Quincy, it's probably not an optimal route, but either 28 or 138 (Blue Hill Ave) is a pretty straight shot once you get over there. I really like 138 other than the small bit of climbing through the Blue Hills (it's really pretty easy though).

rithem
11-17-05, 10:09 AM
I will bring all sizes

Does anyone know if a new shop took the place of Garage de Velo? I have a flat, and of course all my supplies to change the damn thing are at my house, which is far away from my job.

I think revolution cycles moved there.

Revolution moved from Green Street in JP to GdV's Atlantic Ave spot.

Thanks so much!

Now, if you see some poor soul walking a bike through downtown, shake your head and quickly look away. I'm going to have to train myself that constantly carrying a wrench, tube, and mini-pump in my bag is a good idea, not a pain in the ass.

bostontrevor
11-17-05, 06:31 PM
Oh ****s! It's chilly out there! How serious are people about riding after the shindig? For that matter, is there even anyone who hasn't already left the house other than me? The cost of living right down the street, I guess.

The good news (I think) is that my videoconference is off... I'm still not sure I want to get sooper messed up.

jrowe
11-17-05, 06:39 PM

Sorry guys - I'm incompetent and got dropped before we even hit Mass Ave. I was late through one of the lights on Huntington and there was a car...having flashbacks of last month I slowed up and never caught the "peloton" again. Then you guys weaved through that set of cars, and I lost sight of you. Oh well. Did I mention it's cold as balls?

In case I don't see you again Trevor, good luck in Dublin (heh, I said "dub")! Maybe I'll make it over to Ireland and demand some hospitality.

bostontrevor
11-17-05, 11:53 PM
Thanks for everyone coming out. I was feeling mighty foamy, so I had to bail.

Anyhow, I'll be around for a few more weeks, so maybe we can get together again or something.

Naturally the offer stands for anyone wanting to see olde Dubline, drop me a note and we're on, *****.

-Trevor, wearing his spiffy new Hub jersey which will henceforth represent east coast bike culture in the land of tweed and the sheep.

Whereas I got home and found my tire was flat and that I'd just come down with acute sleepitis. Sorry to miss what was undoubtedly a fun ride.

If anybody's around on Thanksgiving Day, I was thinking of taking a longish ride. Let me know if you're interested.

Yo, rithem! You tell Jesse these jerseys are the joint!

I just came from downtown wearing nothing but a long-sleeve synthetic under and that thing on top and I was warm the whole way.

Well, pants too.... And I had some wool gloves on.

But it was cold. My ears went numb and it's officially below freezing.
