Rides and Races - Boston rides

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Or mediums? Come on rithem, give me some woolly love...
When are the smalls arriving? Goddamn, why do shops only stock for big people?
XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL DAMNIT RELAX THEY SHOULD BE IN THIS WEEK!
I want mine to say DFL on the back.
hannah and steph (little fury) already did that ...
Hey folks. As some of you know, I've been trying to get a regular Tuesday night ride going. Totally casual, no assumptions other than everyone enjoys riding whatever they ride, and just going on adventures in the city at night. This will be week four, and I'm trying to get people other than my coworkers involved, especially tonight because I'm guessing most of them will bail because of the weather.
So far, we've been meeting at Darwin's (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Darwin's+Limited,+Cambridge,+MA&spn=0.037890,0.076484&cid=42365000,-71105000,10918292677541212661&iwloc=A&iwstate2=page%3Abasics&hl=en) around 9:30. Tonight may be different, but I'm not going to worry about the details until I know how many people want to come.
In the future, the idea is that there will be a set place and time every Tuesday night where people can meet up and go for a ride.

I have a friend in town tonight who doesn't ride bikes. Otherwise I'd be totally there. Next week?

The idea of weekly Boston rides has lured me out of bike forums lurking mode! Mind if I joined you guys?
I'm down to come ride on Saturdays and Sundays (I work 3-11 M-F)
please, join us. I need to call a few folks to see what's going on.
I can't make it tonight. Going out of town tomorrow, gotta do laundry, etc.
Last call...anyone still interested for tonight? I'm planning on being in the pit in Harvard Square, near Out Of Town News between 9:30 and 10.

I am working tonight... and am usually really ****ing busy but hopefully my schedule will clear up at the end of the semester and can actually, like, make plans, and I would be interested if this is the case.

Dear beantownians, anybody have a bearing puller that I can borrow for a minute? I didn't realize the bearing setup on my Suzue hub wouldn't allow me to simply tap it out with the axle.
I'll be around most of the day tomorrow if I could bum it for a second while all the shops are closed.
Otherwise I'll have to wait all the way till Friday!. ;)
Is there a BFFG Boston group? Seems like there's a decent amount of interest in boston area folk getting together for a ride. If it doesn't exist, would any of you be interested in organizing a ride for the Boston folk?

If you build it, I will come.
But seriously, keep checking this thread. Besides all the idiotic banter, we occasionally do organize actual rides. For example, Rutt organizes a weekly Tuesday night ride, starting from Harvard Square at 9:30pm.
sers, not to be offensive...well, wait, to be offensive...do you ever ****ing read this thread? Not all 17 pages of it are bull**** (though maybe 15 are). If you look back at it, we actually get together and ride/drink fairly often.
To be fair, my anger comes from a general annoyance with the fact that all these Boston people post on the forum, but only a few of us ever actually ride together...*****es. Alright, enough of my pissing and moaning, let's do some riding (after I get back from warm, although not entirely sunny, California).

i read this thread. it seemed to me that there were more boston people interested in getting together than regularly post in this thread. since i'm new to the scene, i thought it best to leave the organizing to one of you. that said, i'd be more than happy to help get as many boston bffg folk as i can together for a ride.

Any boston *****es going to ride CM tonight?
I'll be there, riding a black conversion, dropbars w/ white tape, white saddle. Blue jacket, yellow bag.
5:30pm TONIGHT Copley Square.
Damn, I always forget about CM.
Whoa... Rage.
Haha, no man, I was just being melodramatic. I'm not that angry...or am I?
Edit: On second thought, after re-reading my original post, I'll have to agree with you on that one. That came out way more angry than I was intending...I was going for the "just joshin' ya" vibe and instead came up with "I'm gonna ****ing kill you" instead. My bad!
sers - no hard feelings buddy, we'll see ya out there. It might be time for a Ghettodrome run before it starts snowing.
no problem bro,
what's this ghettodrome you speak of?

We all sneak onto the MIT running track and pretend that we're Major Taylor or Chris Boardman, only we're not. We're slow. On the rare occassion that I make it out, I ***** about how I just came to watch and I don't really want to race. That makes it suck for the other three people who are still coming out, so I'll run one race. Maybe there'll be one or two more turns around the track and then it's off to All Asia.
That's all written down in the rulebook.

Would that be the official anti-hipster one?
Edit: I just checked the forecast for Thursday (I know, I know - it's totally unreliable), and it actually looks to be decent...partly cloudy and a low of 34, which is certainly livable (so long as it's not wet from the rain earlier in the week or windy...).

Hey, who's in for tomorrow's 9:30pm ride? It looks to be quite nice: 54 degrees at 9pm! I'll be riding the Mark V with my brand new Open Pro rear wheel. (Let's see how long it lasts me!) Rutt, are you still on for meeting outside of Darwin's at 9:30?
Thanks for the bump. Yeah, the plan is 9:30, but I'm thinking the pit in Harvard Square is a better rally point than a street corner that's random for everyone except me.
So, meet up at 9:30 next to Out Of Town news in Harvard Square. We'll roll out by 10.
I'll be there.
sers, we rode a lot more during the summer. We still hang out, but there aren't as many training rides now that the temperature has dropped.

I'd like to be there, but it really depends on how much I have left to do. Hopefully I'll see you all then.

Hey Rob, did I just see you riding on Mass Ave through Porter at about 11:30ish?
As for tomorrow night, I might be able to swing that. Looks like Thursday night weather is going to **** anyway.

According to weather.com (accuracy=questionable), it's not supposed to rain until well after midnight. Therefore, I'm planning to ride! I'm inviting a few non-forum people too.

Yeah dude, I totally rocked those threads! I was worried that Jeff and Scott would also show up with their shirts, which would have made us look even more like a gang.
Too bad you can't tell from the photo that I'm doing that no-hander with a flat tire in the rear.
Tuesday Night Ride. Roll out of Harvard Square at 10pm (take note, punctual folk). Who's interested? It looks like it will be cold, but not snowy.

It's a friend's birthday tonight, so I'll probably be busy. If I finish the celebrations in time, I'll call. Otherwise, it's looking like I'm out this week.
That's weird. It's my girlfriend's birthday too. Wait a minute...
