Thats hardcore! I wonder if Doug is ever going to try it. I sent him an E-mail 2 years ago with no response.

His real sport is extreme skiing maybe he thinks sub-zero riding is to EXTREME!

There was a thread about, or at least including information about, this guy a couple of years ago (in the Touring forum, I believe). He intended to ride that bike to the South Pole, pulling a sled. In his practice rides around the base camp the bike just didn't hold up, he said, so he didn't make the ride.

Several Antarctic nations, but mostly the U.S., are making an ice road, of sorts, from McMurdo to the Pole. When that's completed, a person might be able to make a bike ride.

If you've ever read the trials of those who walked/skiied/sledded to the Pole, though, you would have appreciated the hell this guy would have been in for, pulling a sled on that bike.

Looks cool (pun intended) but I don't think it is "winter cycling" per se. Winter in that region would entail 24 hour darkness and -70 degree temps. Probably late spring, summer, or early fall.

Pick, pick, pick. Even I draw the line before that. Give me some quality bourbon and an easy chair next to the fire.
