I'm in the process of totally stripping and replacing most of the components on my Mtb. One of the few things I'm reusing are the XT V-brakes.
I'm in the process of taking them apart and it seems that the peices of the lower pivots that fit to the frame/fork can be disassembled, cleaned, and relubed. I'm a little puzzled with the upper pivot that the pads mount on. There is a set screw in the arm that holds a bushing in place but removal this does not allow the upper pivot to come apart.
Anyway, is there a way to take the upper pivot apart or will I have to be happy with just cleaning and lubing with a drop of oil?
