Hi Everyone,
I'm fairly new to biking, I have a K2 Mach road bike and Cannondale f300 Mountain bike. We have some GREAT mountain biking trails around here. My son and nephew both have new mountain bikes and we are having a great time. My bikes are entry level right now, which is fine because I'm not yet "bike worthy" of anything more, but I gotta say, I'm having a BLAST on both the road and mountain. Winter is coming quickly here and my son and I are looking into winter riding. Was told yesterday the frozen ground really lets you go places you can't in the summer because it's too wet, so I am looking forward to it. My husband teases me because I wash my bikes more often than my truck. I tell him washing the truck is The Man's Job, but my bike is a personal thing...the debate continues :D

Hi Mud, welcome to Bikeforums. Whereabouts are you up there? (Anchorage, Juneau, etc. ) In general, how's road riding?

I like the looks of the city of Juneau, at least what I can see of it in available photos. I understand that the Winter in Anchorage last year was not as cold, or as snowy, as the winter in Boston. (We got clobbered with snow and cold that just would not stop. Bad news for all cyclists.)

I live in the Matanuska Valley; Palmer, Wasilla area. We are about 50 miles north of Anchorage. We have been low on snow in the last few years and it hasn't been as cold at in past years, no 30 below 0 in a couple years. We generally get less snow than Anchorage. Good for cyclists!

how do like your f300? I just got one ....


I LOVE it so far. I tried a Kona, the Cannondale fit me better. I may eventually upgrade to disk brakes. We see to ride through a lot of course sand and my breaks grind on my rims. This doesn't seem to be a factor at all with my son's K2, which has disk brakes. But that's just the kind of riding I've been doing lately, its not the bike. Hope you like yours as well as I do mine!
