Advocacy & Safety - Photo of Motorist Waving

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Is the passenger in the SUV waving for the camera or angry at the cyclists?

Edit: Stupid me, I used "yes/no" for the poll and don't know how to fix it! So I'll say "yes" for waving for the camera, and "no" for angry at the cyclists.

Neither, they're sticking their hand out in the rain.

If they were angry, the hand would only have one finger, if American. Two, if Turkish.

Heck you're an LCI, doesn't a crystal ball for analyzing motorist/cyclists' motivation come with the kit?
If in doubt just repeat what you think "John" would say.

"…The inaugural parade included a garbage truck, two fire engines, a bucket truck, a flat-bed truck carrying a front- end loader and a 15-seat van for the dignitaries…"
I would say the reporter got the garbage-truck and the 15-seat van mixed up…

No, the crystal ball costs extra, just like the blue League Cycling Instructor polo shirt! :)

Maybe he had a dirty hand and didn't want to get the interior dirty.

Waving at the camera, didn't even see the cyclists. The hand is coming out the back seat window.
How did the passenger manage to get his left arm so far out the right window? Is he facing backwards?

I noticed that. It's the back seat passenger, too.
Perhaps he was hanging out the window and his buddies just pulled him back in.....
I suppose I really should ask "who cares?", but it looks to me like someone with something stuck on their left hand is hanging it out the window to get it off there.

Totally! That looks like a kid's hand anyway. I used to do that all the time when I was a kid. Until I was about 8 and we were studying about pollution in science class, and we were on the topic of acid rain, and I thought it was like battery acid or something and would eat my hand off if I stuck it out in the rain anymore. So I stopped. :(
Now I ride my bike in the rain all the darn time. Obviously I got over that childhood phobia!

--- Trick question. It is not possible to answer an "either/or" question with a yes or a no.
And they're waving at the camera anyway.

I always figure if I can see all 5 fingers, it's just a wave. 1 finger and think "angry" unless it'a a thunb's-up.

"Is the passenger in the SUV waving for the camera or angry at the cyclists?" got interpretted to the following...
If the person is waving,
or the person is angry,
Then True (Yes)
Else False (No)
Maybe I need to switch careers away from the computer field... :D
Since I thought the passenger was waving at the camera, I answered yes.

....just threw a hand grenade.
I'd say waving, or feelin' the rain.

Are we just looking for controversy?
Hand is open, not a fist.
Thumb looks down, so the palm is facing backwards, towards the cyclists.
Therefore it's a wave. Or something completely random.
Mugging for the photographer.
