I have been using two computer speakers in my bike to connect to my ipod. However, the speakers are large and heavy. Do you know of two small speakers that I can use? Thanks, Carolo

If your not to fussed about sound quality check out any xmart style shop they have tiny speakers that are meant to plug into personal cd players.

I found a pair of Sony speakers for about $20.00 that plug into a head phone jack on an MP3 player. The speaker have a battery power supply for better sound quality with a on/off switch & volume control. Mine fit perfectly in the 2 side pockets of my Vision Day bag that fits over the back of the seat. I am guessing you ride a recumbent so you can probably do something similar to how I have mine set up.

I you would like pic's of my set up I'd more then happy to email you or try to post them here.

I found mine at Best Buy. I am sure they still have them, or you can try Radio Shack & places like that.

I used to use the speakers that do not have their own battery power supply, could not get the sound quality out of them I wanted regardless of how good the MP3 player is.

Thanks for the answer. The ones I saw in best buy are very large. Do you have the model # at hand? I will try to see at the vision bag. I am riding now a cycle genius, but I am expecting delivery next week of a gold rush. I have not seen anything about bags, yet. Thanks, Carlos

The model number I see on the front of the speakers is: SRS-A27 Here is a link to Sony's web site explaining the speakers:
http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/+INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Print?ProductSKU=SRSA27

There might be a differant model number now available that Sony makes. It is possible that they no longer make the ones that I have but have replaced them with a differant model that does the same thinkg if not better.

There are also other brand names you may want to look for as well.

What I suggest you do is go to a store like Best Buy & talk with one of the people in that department. Explain what you intend to do with the speakers & what the size limitations are. They will help guide you to what is available.

I have had mine for a few years now they work great.

One thing I strongly recommend is you use rechargable batteries for both your MP3 player & the speakers. I used to not use rechargables & I was spending a ton of money on the batteries. I switched to these type of rechargables: http://www.energizer.com/products/rechargeables/ And they work great. I have 8 of the AA batteries. I use 4 in the speakers & carry 4 extra when I ride in case the others go dead.

My MP3 new player has a built in rechargable battery that I just plug in to the charger when it needs it. My old one uses a AAA rechargable battery. When I use the old one I carry a extra AAA in case the one goes dead while I am riding.

There are also more then just the Vision Day bag available for seat bags. I have the Vision bag because it has the 2 side pockets, which are meant for water bottles, that I can put the speakers in. I use a Camel Back strapped to the back of the seat for water. I do believe though that the Vision bag will fit on most recumbent seat frames.

If you have a hard time finding a seat bag that will work contact this bike shop: http://www.hostelshoppe.com/

They will help set you up with a bag that works.

I've seen these at Target, Best Buy and Comp USA, interesting but they use two AAA batteries and everything else we carry on tour uses AA.

I have the same Sony speakers glued together(end to end). They are wedged into a water bottle cage mounted on the steering tube of my Stratus. I have a Iriver mp3 velcroe straped to the handle bar. All is neatly protected by my fairing. I have had this set up for over 5 yrs and works great. I suspect you could easily mount the speakers in the water bottle cages on the handle bars of your EZ Racer.

I can't find the location right now, but I saw a set of speakers that were built into a tube about the size of a griffin iTrip. They simpley plugged into the top of the iPod like an FM tuner etc. Ran off the iPod battery as far as I could tell.

That would be the Griffin iTalk. A mic that you can use as speakers. Keep in mind the smaller the speakers the crappier the quality will be. Please post your setup when you find a good one. Cheers!

Hi - go to www.active-tunes.com. The speaker fits in your hand, it's stereo, you plug your ipod or any mp3 player into it and it clips onto your handlebars. It comes with pouch that holds the mp3 player that velcro's onto the bike. The speaker snaps in and out in a second. inexpensive also.

nice design but pretty expensive. check out the ones at http://www.active-tunes.com. $19.95. takes less than a minute to install, very good sound quality, and you can instantly snap them off the mounting bracket and use them wherever you go. You can plug them into your laptop too. My kids ride their bikes to the beach and then take the speaker off and use it instead of a boom box.
