I need a new 130mm fork for for aggressive trail riding. There are lots of roots, rocks up to 12 inches, no drops over 18 inches. No hucking is involved. Small bump plushness is important as horses chop up 1 mile section of the trail. The bike is an 03 Enduro. I weight 170lbs.

Anybody ever test ride these Fox forks side by side or against other brands?

Get the Talas.

get the talas.. no point taking something so plush and adding some XTT thing that will rob it of it it is known best for.. and it also cheaper and i think works better than the XTT..

I have the 05 Talas RLC on an 05 Yeti 575 and I think its outstanding. I weigh 215 and ride as fast as I can over roots and rocks. After finding the "Right" amount of air to use I have had no problems. Fox got it right on this one,IMHO. :D

btw...I have had a Rock Shox Sl-Ti...but that is not really apples to apples ;) :D

I have a buddy(Mike D) who rides the TALAS and says that even if he forgets to reset it back to 130mm and bombs at 80mm it still feels like it will not bottom out. he is about 200pounds and rides VERY agressively and an 18" drop would be a small one for him. he said its the best upgrade hes ever made. Im saving my $ for one myself. Ive got a TALAS on the rear( MXcomp120 fork) and love the plushness

I know you guys enjoy your suspension and all, but I hit roots as fast as I can hit them on my mz race (tightened so I can bob it down 50 mm max even on 3-4 foot drops).

It's shaky but fine. I don't see the point of a new fork, I need to test ride someone's bike. I guess high tech suspension doesn't appeal to me as much anymore.

Thanks for the info. I ordered a Talas RLC disc via Gatto Cycles (LBS). Their price was good plus their wrench has been excellent.
