I am looking into a new frame. Largly because the bike I jsut finished building up on an old frame is developing a crack. Which is largly due to the fact that I'm jumping on a xc frame. What would be a good frame in the $200-400 (new/used) range that would handle some jumping, medium drops, and still be able to use for xc and even commuting? I am 6'1" so nothing too small. I was even thinking of a Trek bruiser frame as they are marketed as simply very strong do anything bike but not sure on the quality. What else could I look into? Hardrock maybe? Cross country friendly freerides around of any sort?

I think a Hardrock wouldent be bad for your description of your riding.

Norco Wolverine frame...its a really strong frame...good geometry...and its pretty light
On-One 456 comes to mind. Handles up to a 6" fork, all steel.
