I took apart my freewheel from my 70's road bike to clean it up, just removed the cogs and spacers (didn't dissassemble the actual freewheel mechanism). Putting it back together, I imagine that the stampings on the cogs that have the number of teeth and the word "index" (with an arrow) should all be installed aligned with each other? I'm not a total noobie, I used to tear this bike apart and overhaul it on a regular basis in my early days. Just haven't done so in many a moon, and forgot to make a note of the positions before taking it apart. TIA for the help....

With a uniglide freewheel, or cassette it really doesn't matter.

Sydney,
Thanks for the info, it is appreciated. Wonder why the markings are even there then....
