Advocacy & Safety - What are Sharrows and do what want them in my town?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hi,
I just got a LAB email that linked me to this...

I had never heard of sharrows before. It looks VC,
is there some hidden gotcha?
I don't think the article ever made the point. I suppose "sharrow" is a combinant form of the words "Sharing" and "Arrows." :)

Now I know what my avatar is called!
I thought it meant it was OK to bicycle indoors.
These are the "sharrows" in my hometown of Corona, CA.
I like them because they don't tie us into a bike lane in the door zone.
I believe they do increase the awareness of motorists, but I know I will get some disagreement on this.
