Commuting - It's Been 3 Weeks and Here is What I Have Learned!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have compiled a little cound down of what I have learned thus far:

10. Car's will soon be the least of your worries on the road.

9. Downhill's are one of life's simple pleasures.

8. My commuter can double as a MTB when absolutely necessary.

7. Your local bike shop will be visited as much if not more than your local grocery store.

6. Damn, im pretty fast...

5. After a whole week's commute, weekends are perfect for the road bike.

4. A 3 minute shower is more than enough.

3. Your friends will not think you are wierd for commuting...quite the opposite actually.

2. After the initial fatigue...you will start to feel really energetic.

and last but not least...

1. A 10 mile RT commute to school just doesnt seem like enough :) !

Well, its been a great three weeks especially since its getting a little cooler outside in the morning. I no longer have that extreme desire to crash once I finish my commute... now I just feel like I have extra energy. Thanks for everyone who gave me all the positive feedback and have a good commute tomorrow :D !

If you can get past the initial fatigue it's amazing when you have tons of energy you don't know what to do with. Amazing what some extra mitochondria will do for you. The only problem is that if you ever have to stop (injury or death seem like the only plausable reasons) your entire mood will change back to what it once was. This isn't a pleasant experience and I do not wish it upon anyone. But, as long as you can keep riding you'll never have to worry about it. Congradulations on your success!

My commute is 6 miles each way. On my way home, I slow down the last mile - I don't want it to end!

usually after 1 mile, i'm warmed up. for some reason the warp engines start to kick in after 20 minutes of initial riding :D
