A Very inspirational and humorous article in the Sept 26 copy of Newsweek "My Cat Takes More Drugs Than I Do" by Thomas Withers about bicycling fitness and helmet advocacy. Bravo, Mr Withers.

This issue also has a sidebar article in the back pages about bicycle commuting- someone's been riding to work!

way to go, Newsweek, for featuring bicycling articles twice in one issue!

I love this:

Finally, I thought of a strategy that would work, though the method I chose is somewhat un-American. I decided to take care of my health. It was the best decision I ever made.
The success of my plan lies in its simplicity. It's available and adaptable to almost everyone. Furthermore, it requires little special equipment other than a bicycle—and a helmet.

Heh, very cool, but he obviously has "good genes" and I wonder how he plans to control health care costs when he gets cancer? Sadly, there's only so much prevention can do. Despite, that, though, it's encouraging to see at least on person who takes care of himself make it into his 80s happy and healthy (compared to say healthy 30 year olds who drop dead of cancer or get hit by a bus). Plus I'm all about the helmet. :)
