Classic & Vintage - Restoring My Medici

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I'm restoring a Medici Pro Strada that my unkle sold to me. He says it's early 80's but I looked it up online and think that it has to be post 84. This frame and chrome fork have Campagnolo dropouts. Does anyone know what year this might be?
I'm not trying to build it up as if it were purchased directly from Medici. I am however building it with a full Super Record group. I'm wondering what rims I should use, any suggestions?
It was originally built up with Fiamme Ergal rims which I still have. Can anyone tell me any info about these?
Thanks
Dave

Fiamme Ergals are a great rim, but for a light rider. The ones with the rectangular label that reads ERGAL are from late '70s to early '80s.
The best bet for finding out the year your frame was built would be to contact Gian Simonetti. If you can't locate him, take a look through the CR list archives... I seem to remember a list member starting a registry of serial #s for Medici.... OK - I just did a search:

email Jay Sexton to see if he can help!
Oh; and post some pictures!

Need some images, and or a more full description, such as lug type, braze ons, cable guide type typ of top tube guides type of fork crown, decal set....
Have one, only bike with ShimaNO.
Pictures of the bike won't help much at least for paint scheme/decal purposes. It was repainted by Medici after it was about 3 years old. My uncle didn't like the way the Pro Stradas were being painted at the time so he had it painted like a Gran Turismo. It has a Yellow Lion(just a lion) on the head tube and one on the center of the seat tube. Above and below the seat tube lion are bands with alternation yellow and black stars with yellow stripes above and below. Above this there is a Columbus tubeset badge. Then the chain stays say Pro Strada on them. It has 3 braze on cable guids on the top of the top tube.
I'm sorry that was kind of unclear. My uncle had the frame repainted because it was peeling. How do I find out what the lug type is? Do you mean Investment Cast? I'm pretty sure that's what they are. Also how do I find out what type of fork crown it has?

Third picture down left hand side. That looks identical to the fork crown on my bike.
Probably the Hayden Investment Cast.

The early Medici's used Masi liberated lugs, later used the IC lugs designed by Mario Confente save for a different cut out. Ever compared the Pro Strada on the chainstay to a Confente Pro Strada? same decal thanks to Rexart.
The link would not open at the moment, Medici used a buy-out fork for a while, any all chrome fork could well be one. The crown is the giveaway.
The Masi, Confente, Medici, Rexart, Simonetti story could be quite a novel.
One day Mr. Howard may be a free man again and Medici will return...
I read the story about how Medici got started but where is the part about Ron Howard going to jail?

Not Ron; Mike.
But I betcha Mike used to watch Opie hangin' down at Floyd's when he was little, and thinkin' all those years, now that looks like fun...

I forgot the correct name, thanks for the correction.
I think he would have had more fun at a salon however, not a barber shop.
Sorry Ron Howard is the movie director.

DeeDub-
Mike Howard got put away for lopping the locks off young women who had long hair, for reasons unknown, a hair fetish perhaps...
Quite notorious, it took a while to catch him.
Here is the only digital picture I have of It.
