I put up some flyers around town, through an alert on Craigslist and last night held the first bicycle advocacy meeting in Greensboro, NC. To my amazement 27 people showed up, including a member of the city DOT and a very prominent bicycle shoppe owner. It was great, we all plan to meet again October 5th and came up with a name for our group: Bicycling In Greensboro (B.I.G.)

I am very excited about the possibilities that may come about here in NC. Just thought I would post this on here to let people read about it. We are basically trying to make Greensboro more bike friendly, some of us commute by bike and would like to be able to go around town without feeling like we're being run off the road. I am a vehicular cyclist and am advocating this as well.

Well done! Read-up on NYC's biggest advocacy group, Transportation Alternatives (http://www.transalt.org) for some ideas, perhaps?
