Is he going to be racing?
did you race pro for cw?
if not what class?
just curious, i'm sure alot of folks here don't remember cw.
remember those f*cked up frames they made w/ the z in the downtube?
as to your question. get any bike you like. if you once rode bmx you will be able to tell what is junk and what isn't.
by the time your kid gets 11 what ever bike you buy today will be junk and probably too small.
plus, you say you want to upgrade but in reality your kid won't be breaking parts so you probably won't be upgrading much.
remember, you get what you pay for.....

Redline still makes great bikes, I just bought one of their cyclocross models. Beware of GT, they went bankrupt and a dealer may try to foist one of their frames on you. If you get a great deal it may be worth it, but you won't have a frame warranty. I remember the frames but the name "CW" didn't ring a bell. I wonder if PK Ripper is still around?

Yeah, the colors were a little weird. Wish I had some of the old bikes though, I'd forgotten what those Diamond Back decals looked like. Man, you could ride a wheelie on one of those bikes for miles.
