Commuting - The Cold Winds are Making things Difficult!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I ride 15k each way to and from work, and find that as the cool fall mornings and evenings are here, I find myself freezing to the point of numb down in the nether regions. I wear shorts (not bicycling shorts) and sweatshirt, but I've heard of putting newspaper down your pants to protect yourself from the cold winds, but sitting on the bike, the darn newspaper never stays put.
Any ideas on how to keep that area from freezing to the point of numb??

get rid of the shorts. i imagine cold air is being filtered right in there. plus cold air is bad for you knees as well. wear something full length.

well s-creek-rider ,
as far as I'm concerned there is no such thing as bad weather while cycling. It is just a matter of bad clothing. So get some proper riding gear.
I'm pretty sure you'll be able to dig up a number of very usefull threads on this forum on this subject so I won't start spelling out what an average commuter like me considers to be proper riding gear.

Hit up the ol' winter cycling forum. The season is nigh.

Yeap, winter cycling sub forum time. I spent too much time at first figuring out the best clothing for the current day's ride and drove. This winter I hope to do better. The fall/winter cycling experts are on the winter subforum and don't always hit the others.
So, start a new thread there.
