Mountain Biking - NEED assistance from smart ppl like you

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

If you don't want to read all this i want a bike like a gaint VT2 basically full suspension and light (31 lbs) but way cheaper $700 tops .... and i think i can go for used to ... this may not be possible but i'd like to hear my best options :)
A couple of weekends ago i went mountain biking, with my g/f, and her dad, wow it was sooooooo ****ing fun ... my g/f was not that great at it :( but will work on her later ;) , and her dad was had been doing it for a few years i kept up with him pretty good, i had mt biked before and learned the basics of adjusting my balances, but this time the rush was so ****ing awsome .... and i need a transition season sports (what i call spring and fall were i go from snowboarding to wakeboarding) and wow this is just as good as those sports the rush so much remesmbles snowboarding its awsome!
and the other day i went riding with my friends on a campus ... i tried his giant VT out absolutly loved it! i've tried other some what high end bikes but this bike was awsome the wieght(31lbs) made bunny hopes sooo easy, the full suspension was awsome brakes were great ... but brakes arn't that important to me ... i mean i wan't good ones but i dont' need amazing ones. now i want to buy a bike something like the VT around its wieght (31lbs) and full suspension ... but my top amount to spend right now is only around 700 dollars ... soo it'd be great if you guys could point me in the right direction, used bikes are cool too ... to a awsome bike like that for cheaper, so i can break into this amazing sport that'd be awsome! i'd be aternally greatful!

Dont bump after just 30 min..... If it's a really busy day here a bump after 30 minutes is ok, but when was the last busy day. Usually a bump requires at least a days' worth of inactivity.
You just need to save up some.

I wouldn't buy a FS unless its over $1000...for $700 it would be better to get a hardtail.
$700 will get you a good hardtail - it will be better for you to learn on and likely less than 31lbs.

If that one is too small or it doesn't work out, then test ride a Specialized Rockhopper, in your price range and a good bike. I think your enthusiasm will find a good home with the RH.
cheers with beers

I hate to say it but please use whole words. this is not a WAP or SMS site where charaters are limited. when I read this post I thought I was reading one of my daughters text messages to me. somewhere in the rules there says something about this stuff.
back on topic, you may find some bikes that fit your desire soon as the season ends and some shops discount their bikes. for under $1000 you will not get the best, even at discount.
use the search feature and I believe you will find what you are looking for
used rockhopper on ebay can be bountiful:) a friend of mine scored a 2001 complete for 150 great condition still rides it, then you could tear it down and pretty much rebuild it with the rest of your 700:)
well imho dood u shuld get a relly nice kona fram cuz specilizd sux ballllllz

I do believe he was being facetious (sarcastic) and referring to the post right above him, he could have probably been a little more direct... or translated for the rest of us ;)

Ok, you guys know I don't like to speak up here, but before it gets out of hand, please be civil.
Bonfire, it is important here to make a really serious effort towards spelling and typing words out. With AOL'ese and TXTspeak it makes a post very disruptive.

On hindsight you could be right - but first thing in the morning with a hang over I always reserve the right to be a grumpy arsehole.
