Could somebody tell me if the polar 710 records speed and Altitude so you can download and projuce a graph afterwards.

It does. Setting the altimeter can be a bit of a pain at first, since you have to find a spot with a KNOWN altitude to do it.

that's why god invented airports! i used the local small airport (for private planes and such) to calibrate a GPS. they all have their exact altitudes on record. if you're not worried about exactness, than i would think a ball park figure would work. correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't an altimeter just compare pressure differentials? if that's the case, you'd know how much you'd climbed even if the baseline was wrong.
