Hi all,
This afternoon, my beloved bike got stolen. This means I'll need a new bike, and soon.
I do all kinds of riding really, living in a city, I ride the streets alot, as well as anything else I can get onto. I also do some dirt jumping at BMX tracks etc, but also like my XC and downhilling. I'd really like to have only one bike, not a bike for each type of riding!
I need a bike that can put up with some abuse, something that won't mind stairs, drop off's and the like. I also need to be able to ride it distances comfortably (10-15km), and hit the trails too. I'm not really looking for full suspension, I think I'll stick with hardtrail, but I'm open to suggestions. I'd like something that won't get me laughed at if i decide to do a little DH, turning up with an XC at the local dh tracks was an interesting experience.
My price limit is about $2000 (AUD)
Anyway, I'm looking at 2 bikes right now - the Giant STP Zero (~$2000):

And the Specialized P3 (~$2160):

The Giant STP Zero is an '06 model, but the P3 is an '05 model.
To me, the P3 looks a lot more burly, the frame looks a bit stronger. It's also got the 8" rotor on the front.
The STP Zero looks nice, but the frame looks weaker than the P3. It's got Juicy 5's though, and I had those on my old bike - I liked them.
Can anyone offer any insight into which bike I should choose? (Doesn't have to be either of these)
Thanks alot! :)
