Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - anybody know how to fix this turbo?

i had the bike upside down fixing a flat.. foot on the seat and popped the front off.. ive tried all sorts of ways to get the rails back in.. anybody know how its done? make me proud...

I was just asking myself if it was possible to pop the rails out of a saddle when I came across this...

Seriously, though, I've had worse situations with much more expensive parts on 4 ton machines...with a mounted vice, a mini-sledge, some elbow grease and a dab of either loctite or super glue, it can be fixed, but you'll more than likely have to end up straightening them. The best bet would be to buy a new one unless you simply want to say "I did this!"

But there's probably an easier way...

Easier way if you have the wrist strength would be to put the front in first and squeeze the sides other ends towards the center and up, then bring them down (doing so one at a time), and slipping them into the slot...they won't go in at first, if at all, but it's worth a shot if you really don't want to buy another saddle.

im not giving up yet.. but the bike already has a different seat on it.. so maybe i did already.. theres gotta be a way.. it popped off so easily..

Time to move up to a real leather saddle..... :D

i'd put the seat on a 4x4 or some kind of secure rail and wrap it up with duct tape so you can work the rails with two hands.

Turbo. Has to be the most comfortable seat I've laid my glutes on. Haven't tried a Brooks yet but am very tempted.

i dont think so.. cause this is how they put em in in the first place.. i just think they must have a stronng machine to do it.. if you could get it back in. itd be as good as it was before

I have had this happen to a saddle, some bontrager saddle from my mtb. I was able to get the rails back in but the saddle was not the same, the rails were bent (from me cramming them back in bending them).

Maybe this is because i did it wrong but I couldnt see any other way.

I did some research at that time and remember reading something that saddle manufacturers dont reccomend you try to repair it yourself and that only a professional should do it. Maybe its a ploy for money. Have you tried the mechanics forum?

I've heard countless accounts of people being unable to get their rails back into their saddle, and the only people that have gotten them in ended up with the rails being very bent. So, interpret that as you will.
I would just invest in a new saddle. Because even if you get the top part back on the rails, the likelihood of it popping back off again is (I would assume) greatly increased. And that's bad!

well, it'll save you 358 bones, is probably as comfortable, and doesn't have a 165# weight limit.
