that's actually really beautiful. captures a moment just the way haiku should, traditionally.

i'm too sober to add haiku. maybe i should have some of what smorgasgeorge was talking about (which is cheaper here, btw).

A lot of time, I find that the best haiku come when I am specifically as sober and clear as can be. It is the clarity of mind that poetry chooses to emerge from sometimes.

Tonight's haiku:

Coal-dust night so still
The moon just a ghost above
Cold air teases skin

i suck cock all day
to buy keirin frame and blow
now i have the herp.

hmmm...i feel that way sometimes when i'm writing songs. like i have to find a way of arranging words that says what i want to say, says in an interesting way, hopefully uses some vivid imagery, while sounding musical with or without music to it. other poetry i need sobriety to write and formulate the way it'll look on the page.

in the context of the haiku on this page however...maybe i should have been more specific. i suck at haiku in any state, but drunk, it would be funnier. when drunk, i often put a lot more raw emotion into other forms of writing, too...but it has to be refined sober.

i think it was oscar wilde who said that all good writing is either written drunk and edited sober or vice versa. not totally true...but look at hemingway, faulkner, et al.
