I searched BF for pedal-paddle and found nothing, so here it is: My friend tripped across a storefront in downtown Minneapolis displaying this rig. Talk about exposing your bike to water!

Thats pretty cool. I think it could potentially be fun for a while. It reminds me of the time when I was maybe 10 or so, and I rode my old bicycle straight into a lake (intentionally) while we were camping.

Too cool, Sir! With this rig, you could keep on going!

Oh man, that's brilliant. I can think of a couple of locations that could make a bundle renting these out. Lake of the Ozarks would be a massive place for those bike-rafts. Lots of nice places to ride, and a whole stonking huge lake to paddle around in.
I wonder how efficient those spoke-mounted paddles are, though. Short of a chain-driven propeller that drops down like a tail, I don't think there's a better solution.
I bet its a ***** in a crosswind, plus you would need big cahones to ride it in public....

Loves it! I'd have loved to be at the fiesta that brought out that grown-up-sized pedal-car/paddleboat. I'd just die to see that thing toodling down the road.

They've cut the price in half very recently. They did so 2 years ago on their 2003 models when they were making some changeover. Not sure if this is an end of season changeover cut or a permanent price cut.
Bah! These are the way to go.

that sir would be a horrible idea, Lake of the Ozarks is a power boat haven, you out on this funny little bike with skis on a big lake full of 30'+ speed boats and crusiers and houseboats, not to mention the millions of jet ski's. In a cove it'd be alright, but i think if anyone rode that out on the main lake, has a death wish.

A further price drop- wonder if this drop in April is a pre-going out of business sale or if the price needs be dropped to get them sold.

I haven't been on the Lake of the Ozarks in over twenty years and I wouldn't have pedalled one even back then. Maybe on the Osage River; I used to canoe that(and the Missouri River as well)

Can you imagine what would happen to your bike in salt water? One ride would have a big effect on everything that could rust.

This Sat. they'll be in Baltimore's inner harbor for a kinetic sculpture race. Of course the Chesapeake's salinity is a bout one third of the ocean.

Nice, at a distance it looks like the guy is riding the bike on the water.
You would really need a 2nd wheel with small rubber or plastic outlashes or "hoofs" to really get traction on the water and then this thing could fly.
Also when they had the 3 people going in a circle I thought to myself "wow this could be a great alternative to the commuters that are trying to increase there visibality on the road" I mean who the hell wont see two huge bright red pads on the side of your bike.

You can rent those hydrobikes in Milwaukee. the Lakefront has a large pond (1 acre?) that has a fleet of about a dozen. I'm not sure if it's exactly the same thing, but it looks pretty darn close.

And then there's this thing. Not really any bikish parts in there, but pretty fun looking. A coworker of mine is thinking of getting one of these. He lives on the chesapeak bay. I'm not sure how you're supposed to get going again if you stop, but so long as you keep moving it looks fast and fun.
