Rides and Races - DC Pirates' Pillages and Plunders

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

The last entry here somehow seems appropriate. The others? I'm not so sure.

Enjoy:

Filming on location for Walker: Texas Ranger, Chuck Norris brought a stillborn baby lamb back to life by giving it a prolonged beard rub. Shortly after the farm animal sprang back to life and a crowd had gathered, Chuck Norris roundhouse kicked the animal, breaking its neck, to remind the crew once more that Chuck giveth, and the good Chuck, he taketh away.

There is no chin behind Chuck Norris' beard. There is only another fist.

Chuck Norris once lined up to kick the winning field goal of a high school football game. When the football went flat, he persuaded the referees to let him kick the field goal with a 3 month old child. Chuck roundhouse kicked the baby 60 yards through the uprights and then proceeded to bang every girl in the stadium.

It was once believed that Chuck Norris actually lost a fight to a pirate, but that is a lie, created by Chuck Norris himself to lure more pirates to him. Pirates never were very smart.

report back!

we had a 4-bar, 18 mile pillage, including...
home base, $2 magic hat
Ireland's 4 Provinces, Cleveland Park, where we had irish coffee and experienced the worst live cover music EVER,
Marty's, Capitol Hill, where we capitalized on free popcorn and cheap pictures but again were subjected to some terrible music, this time 80's, and
Wonderland Ballroom, Columbia Heights, where the live jazz, $3 high life, and smoke free upstairs were awesome.

the promised FGE pictures were not taken, but that'll still happen sometime soon.
illegal noise was made, refunds were demanded, cutters rallied at the last minute.
i only took 5 photos, they're in my photostream: http://www.flickr.com/photos/chimblysweep/

Don't forget the pancakes and cheese!

I'm very happy with how ridey the ride was. Classic pillage. Ya cutters! Where's pics?

Word on the pillage.....AWESOME

I will post my pics later tonight, the ride was long and very sweet, though I have lock ring issues and a chain in serious need of lube.

I think the pre-pillage Dos Manos Burrito is the way to go (brilliant in fact) it packs 1800 calories and fills you to the brim, yummy.

Edit: Kenton is a cheese cutter....

spud:Stretching afterward,heat pack,proper seat adjustment.

My right leg was tore up bad from the party ride cause my seatpost had slipped down like a 1/2". Noticed something was funny climbing the hill for home.

Everyone: Wonderland rocked! Smokefree and live jazz. :)

whoa. Sorry way late, but I'm doing a site-seeing pillage (perhaps on my own) tonight. I'm gonna hit most of the sites and monuments for a last-minute photo collection gift. Anyone that missed out on last night is welcome to join me for a loop through g-town, a few of the bridges, the monuments, capitol hill and dupont.

If you're interested, PM me...

I'm definitely in for a ride, though I'm actually at work. I have a feeling we may close early (maybe 3 pm ish?) so if anyone is out and about...I'd love to meet people. Supposed to be in the 50s today...

Let me know.

Britpac

I am missing too much piracy this week! Though I am keeping it piractical here in the sun, the rum consumption is off the Yarrrr scale, and my hair is very salty. Pics to follow today, watch out.....

completely random:
this weekend, in WI, my dad introduced me to one of his friend's sons, in that ackword "you're both lutheran wisconsinites. c'mon, it would be ideal" sort of way. i had biked to the restaurant so he started asking me about my bike. i said i ride fixed, he said he rode a 1-speed with coaster brakes. I was thinking coaster brakes, how odd, but glossed over it. anyway, i noticed he had a Cinzano Mini 500 hat on. Woah. I asked if he was a fan of Breaking Away and he said yeah... but that he raced it when he was in college and now coaches a team. that explains the coaster brakes and freewheel! he was supercool.

REFUND!

Look, i had no idea it couldn't handle the wonder that is me.
Give me a call and tell me what tools you need. I'll bring em with me if i have it. (likely)
We will just have one slightly shorter mallet...it will be for people that ride sub 50cm bikes. NJS it will not be.

spud
12-28-05, 09:50 AM
dont know what broke, i didnt look closely just saw them in a bunch at clink's...did you just break the pvc off the mallet? i'll put you in charge of fixing it.

Britpac

PVC head broke off, maybe need to drill a new hole.....ok so here are some pics, I'm trying to keep it Pirate.... (http://www.flickr.com/photos/66138001@N00/?saved=1) I need a bike. I am sad to be missing the burning pants party, but I've had goat curry since arriving and that makes me happy :)

did anyone get arrested?

btw: HK midtown suck, there are no bikes on the streets in mid town...illegal, but then the bike mortality rate would be so high.

btw: HK rocks for bikes, there is a bike patch that is 100 km long and goes along the prettiest (for HK) coast line.

for SPud, thanks dude. I am paranoid that my parents will cook my bikes if they are too clos tot he fireplace.

Holy sh*# Tink! My elbow is totally bruised and stiff after our little judo tussle last night in the park. When we fell, I think my arm took the landing for both of us. Ouch! Glad to hear you made it home alive too.

I'm off to Charleston, SC for New Year's. Going to miss the bike shenanagans...Happy New Year Pirates!
