Rides and Races - DC Pirates' Pillages and Plunders

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
BoO, I like Dave Barry. I bet you don't like Savage Love either. Or Steve Colbert.
And RPC, the CP location is fine. If you tell me your size, i can stop by and take pics of all the bikes your size. And get the good word on prices from friends that work there.
And Baltimore is a fine city. It is full of Punk and goodness. And the Talking Head has Naty Boh. And requires you to go up and down too many stairs to find the rest room. The land of pleasant living. And i am going to be so drunk in the morning. I mean hung over. Maybe drunk too. And my buddy Joe goes, "dude, i have to pee so bad, i have the smallest bladder." And i go, "me too man!!" And he says, "you must be a libra." Well damn if he wasn't right.
Dude, it sounds like you're mixing the Percocet and sauce again .... ? I'm best on a 50-52cm frame - CP was kinda um, not really pushy, but not really comfortable either. Damn if they don't have some NICE bikes there though. Prices were still steep, even on some of the used ones. I dropped an ebay bid on a bike in MD. Some odd 50cm bike with downtube shifters, <$100, can't beat that, I hope it stays low.

Last night was awsome. The polo action was intense, and we got some new folks to come out.
Spud: I think we need to change your name to Thor. ;) Next time we need to put a wrist strap on Mjollnir. :D
Tink, thanks for saving us from the tv-news-messenger guy too - polo, living on the edge even when you're not in the game...
i dare tink to touch the tv guy again

Hell's yeah. Fung Wah Bus Tours here I come, and front brake, there I go! Should be plenty of places to crash, with the Brooklyn kids who showed up for LNFB last month...

Sometimes you eat the handlebar and…sometimes the handlebar, well, he eats you.

So, as some of you know one day when I can ride again i will be on a new ride. What cog do you all think I should run on a 46?
15? what gearing were you usually in on your current bike?

BoogerBike, 16+, spin it until your knee is ready
Damn, it sounds like I missed a good night of fun. Last minute drives to Newport News suck.
Spud, I got back this evening and truing wheels to get my mind off work and the big accident that I missed on the drive back, so I'll catch up with you on the bars later man.
Allie, did you say you had a bike in Richmond and you have a problem getting there to pick it up? Richmond is on the way to Newport News, so I past it there twice a month... if you can make arrangements, we can work something out.

I'm thinking i was running about 38/14 or 48/18. I don't know if that makes any sense. I was thinking of running 46/16-17 flip flop.
when the heck is monster track?

enjoy, all you could want to know.
And as you all know, the Baltimore Shock Trauma is next Saturday.
It should be a fine race in one very fine city.
Baltimore is the birthplace of John Waters and Naty Boh.
and illegal drugs. probably
But seriously people, we need to pillage this town.

it's not that i have a problem getting there to pick it up. it's the person whose apartment i need to get it from. if it was as easy as asking you to pick it up then i would.

Stop it! I'm really cheesed that I'll be missing Monster Track, darn you lucky pirates!
Therefore, must go to Shock Trauma
Booger, the 46-16/17 is a great idea (IMHO). You can always get a 15 when your knee gets better.
Watchitburn, understand the situation, but if it is your bike (but not a gift from said person), you have the right to take it home! Holding someone's bike is just WRONG
if you're going to MonsterTrack, add your self to the DC list in the MT2006 thread.
Damn, I can't ride fixed / SS let alone brakeless :)
New York huh? I should get back up there, not planning on going until April though. Have fun!
sunday rides at haines point are on: snow, wind, sunshine, solar eclipses, rain will not stop us.

thundersnow!!
I just saw a flash of Lightning outside followed by loud thunder. I'm being completely honest. Apparently "thundersnow" is the real deal.
I went - cause I'm less than a mile from Haines. There was zero traffic downtown - place was deserted, made dodging puddles and snow banks pretty easy.

Would I lie? Thundersnow is all the rage. Trendy weather systems. phlp!
In other news. My bike is in pieces on my kitchen floor so I did not attempt hains. I went to Revolution to pick up new bearings and they were closed due to the snow...wimps!

Do Pirates really pillage and plunder?
That's more Vikings or Mongols than Pirates.
Just saying...

In many ways, we are not historically accurate.

pil·lage
To take spoils by force.
plun·der
To take booty
That sounds like pirate behavior to me. Not that the DC Pirates rob or take things by force...well we take the streets by force...but other than that.

and this is *definitely* a reputable pirate store, not some new-age poser pirate store. those guys are for real. too bad they're so farrrrrrr away, otherwise we could investigate in person.

The streets may be covered in snow tonight, but the winds are a changing and this wednesday calls for fair 50's. So how about a post snow, post V-day, post Tink's Bday and (for those who ride fixed)post over potholes streets bash. Wednesday 7:00, pillaging starts from homebase, the warehouse.
PNC, i just talked to Dave. I think he already has an idea for something.
