Rides and Races - DC Pirates' Pillages and Plunders

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Speaking of feeding, i was just siting here looking at the forum and I thought to myself,"I want to eat my thumb"
Now don't get me wrong, I don't want to eat it, but the thought did come in to my head. I need some sleep.
no sleep is what gave you that thought. come on out tonight, i'm betting on the pi percent.

attention monster track pirates:
its been suggested we rent a minivan/van and drive up to new york friday night after we all get off work/out of class. race is sometime on saturday and there will be an afterparty of some sort and probably some more parties with our host. then we have sunday to goof off in the city and come back sunday night.
its not too late to come, so far: chimblysweep, jonny5, watchitburn, mannakai and spud, if you do not have a trackbike or do not feel comfortable racing sans brakes or in a different city there will be plenty of checkpoints to help with or you can just ride along (not compete) and discover more of new york.
Good to finally meet you crazy kids. Next time, I'll remember to bring a bike ...

next wednesday is the pancake pillage.
yeah it was nice to meet Schiek.
oh and props to Ben's Chili, home of the late-night free veggie burger.
if i'm not allowed to throw polo mallets, then no giving/offering/buying Peter sparks.

The pancake ride is Tuesday, not Wednesday.
oh ok, Cardozo Hot Nights next wednesday
re: MonsterTrack -- I'm gonna take the chinatown bus up on friday morning (since, ha ha, I don't work on Fridays, EVER), so count me out on the whole soccer-mom minivan dealio. Hopefully you can find a van with a "my kid's an honor student at cardozo high school" bumper sticker.
also, some advice following spud's warning:
"if you do not have a trackbike or do not feel comfortable racing sans brakes or in a different city..."
I recommend you get some loose balls for your bearings. two per sac. just ask. most bike shops have 'em.

grrr. riding brakeless isn't about "having balls" or "being a man." in truth, it's about using a bike NOT made for the streets on the streets, which, imho, isn't really all that clever.
people who are reluctant to ride brakeless could be called either "chicken" or "clever" and i opt for the later.

I recommend you find some more enlightened metaphors. Maybe I can loan you some post-feminist pirate literature (http://www.pirate-women.com/).
julie and jonny are kind of lucky to have left when they did, the rest of the night was peter talking about getting his salad tossed, to use the parlance of our times.

I say good people of the People's Pirate Republic of the Interweb Hosted by Bikeforums.net good show.
As far as I am concerned safety is keeping it awesome.
awesomeness will be kept...as soon as my brake levers come in the mail.
jesus in a sidecar kids. twas a joke. ha ha. see: laughing. it's funny. throw neither your feminist tirades nor your luddite wisdom at me. I agree. I was playing off a little riff we got going last night, about cups and cones and bearings and such.
friggin cajones.

Well hello Pirates! Hope everyone's doing well!!
I am quite deeply sorry for my absence from the pillages of late. As spud so nicely pointed out last night, as I hear, I'm spending alot of time in Boston. I'm spending alot of time at work. I'm spending alot of time on law school stuff.

Last night was cool, although not as polo-y as I would've liked.
pnc - Happy B-day,again! Hate to think what Sparks Black would've done to you. :p
J5 - Fwar! Someone's got 3 gauges. ;)
Chimbly - How do you get beer-smell out of a bag? :o (and did it have to be PBR? )

i know that the distributer around the corner totally flaked out.
so anyways, i hope you all had fun.
i'll be around this weekend for a ride on saturday if anyone is interested.

Almost hit a parked car on the way home last night. Thank dog for coffee, perk's and car pooling. So I'm back and heading out to Maggiano's in Friendship Heights. Non-pirates buying me B-day dinner :)
Calamari..... mmmmmmmm... better than toss salad (after picking out the black olives)
7-Round at Georgia and Randolph has all the Sparks Black you need. Delicious. Surprisingly smaller than the big ol' orange pint, but a more refined and elegant flavor.
thanks for the info kellan, so smaller can but more alcohol? same price?
WatchItBurn
02-23-06, 09:17 PM
ok so what are these pancakes you speak of and where may i receive some?
Spud,
Smaller, by maybe 2-4 ounces, but a full percent stronger. If it's 14 oz, then that's .14 of an ounce more alcohol per can. I don't remember what they were charging, they don't do such a great job of posting prices there. I think it was the same price, but don't quote me.
LBK's Pancake Pillage is on tuesday, details to come. ihop is on the list of stops (free pancakes since its National Pancake Day)

Gosh, I am going to start dieting.
Ok time to learn to purge
Why diet? Anyone posting here is getting more excercise than the average Pancake Day celebrant!

I feel fat, my pants are getting tight in the wrong places. And it is NOT that time of the month either

I feel fat
Are you kidding me?!
Listen, my pregnany one just told me that she thought that I was gaining weight.
So much for sympathy pounds!!!! It is in fact true though.. i've put on about 7 lbs in the last two months.
Well, with the warmer weather, it's time to hit the trails again for some longer rides.
Come on pirates!!!!
lets start organizing londer rides..
speaking of which... LBK... any info on a proposed route for Tuesday?
(btw. the offer still stands for anyone who wants to ride serious miles this weekend)

i was thinking about something today. i don't really know my way around dc in a car, let alone by bike. some weekend, if it's relatively nice out, i'd like to go on a general ride around the city. just relaxed and kind of taking our time. show me the good places to ride, etc. if anyone is up for this let me know!
chimblysweep
02-24-06, 02:55 PM
what time is the Sunday ride?
i'll be out riding some bike somewhere on saturday as well. probably in the afternoon so as to maximize Sunburn Potential. Dave might come with me. And we might end up at the High Life Round Up ($.25 high life pints!)
yup
