we all do!
even better, we have a ride where you get one point for every beer or whole milk you drink. whoever has the most points at the end of the night decides... at the end of the night.

I think should be open to everyone and judged by everyone. Tink--you did the last one, give other people a shot!

So is anyone riding the critical mass tonight?
nope?
no-one?
just me?
damn that sucks.
I want to come out for the ride tonight. I know folks meet at Dupont Circle at 6:00, but were do the Pirates meet, and when does the ride actually start?
I ask because I typically work in Rockeville until 6ish. I might just make the ride if I take the red line directly to Dupont Circle, and the ride doesn't promptly start at 6.
If I don't make it I guess I'll spend the night designing a new Pirate T-Shirt.

I should make CM,I'm planning on slicking out early.
Here's that image I Pirated for the spokecard. Maybe Tink or someone else talented can tweak it to be DCP shirt appropriate.
CM tonight, I'm trying to get out by 5:30 which should let me make Dupont by 6 ... does it start on time? Can I be 15 minutes late and not miss the bus?
dynaryder

Heh. I think the last CM I was at,I got there at 5:45,and called Chimbly at 6:05 to see if anyone was going to show up.
Don't worry. CM runs on Pirate Nominal Time. :p

Remember that there are no bikes allowed on Metrorail between 4 pm and 7 pm on weekdays...

Having just now hopped on the bike forum, I see all the well-wishes. Thanks for all the notes! I do appreciate them.
Just to set the record straight, my shoulder is broken in 3 places, as opposed to the collarbone (which might've been even more painful I think)
Spud, you are one bruised potato. Aside from the fractured bones, I've still got some pretty shiners, but none like those rather graphic pics you have posted! Sorry to miss you at lunch today. Tink, don't forget to post that pic in the park so Spud too can compare wounds.
Irony can be a cruel joke sometimes, but I will gniog peek says gnidir peek. I think this is an ideal point to end with my first "Yarr!" ;)

Yeah, and it may be easier to sneak a bike on while getting on an in-bound train up in Rockville, too.

Yeah, I've done it several times before. They seem to only get pissy about the rules at Metro Center.
I'm definately gonna try to make it to Dupont Circle A.S.A.P. I've missed the last two CM's.

Tink,
I just realized that I inadvertantly had you post that pic for me! Please know that this was not because I was trying to avoid the intimidating technology of this forum.
But just to show I've got the skills, here is a pic from the last race I ran in Miami. It cracks me up because the other guy looks so pained...but then again, he did finish ahead of me so I can't make fun of him.
yey, Monster Track ****in rox!

Sleepin. yawn. sorry! Hope the lack of showing didn't stop you from getting a good ride in.
I did a solo late afternoon arlington loop instead. It was a beautiful day!
I was there around 11'ish ... went around backwards twice I think. I was looking for fixed gears and spoke cards, but only saw roadies and bladers. After a while I went the right way a couple more times and had to leave. The headwinds SUCKED!!

In other news...... I rode my bike today. I went on a 10 min ride on very flat Cap Hill streets. My knee felt good, but my legs were dead. I got tired quick, but I am on my way.
Thanks again for dropping by on the last pillage. It made me miss riding and hanging out with all you, but all my PT is made much easier by know what I am working to get back too.

We lost a first-timer at CM to a flat. Which really sucked after the herculean effort we put in with my minipump. Lessons learned:
1) This sucks: http://www.crankbrothers.com/powerpump_alloy.php :(
2) Gas stations don't always have compressors that will do high-pressure bike tires.
I burned the last of my Performance coupons on an upgrade:
http://www.topeak.com/products/pump_012.html
This thing seriously rocks. We'll be set if anyone flats at polo this week.
CM itself was alright. Fracking cold though. It's hard to keep warm when you're not traveling at Pirate speeds. We may also have some pillaging competition. On M st in Georgetown we saw a bike-pile outside one of the restaurants. They even had one in the tree. Anybody know of any other groups like us around here? Wasn't WUSS cause the bikes were all geared.

I got the Road Morph instead, a very nice portable pump indeed, it has a pressure gauge and everything.

I spent about 15 min comparing the two Morphs. The only diffs I could see were the Mountain looked like it had a slightly thicker barrel and a bigger handle. Packaging didn't say anything, same price, same size/weight. So I picked the Mountain cause of the bigger handle(mine's got the gauge too,but it doesn't show it on the webpage). Works like a charm. Tested it on the Fuji's 125psi's;took a little while, but way easier to use than the Crank Bros, and I didn't have to sweat ripping the stem off the wheel.

Hey Pirates,
this is Sol, I wanted to invite all of you to a ride/race/camping trip that David M at City bikes, and I are putting together called the long haul fu#@$#.
it starts on friday april 8th at 4ish where we ride to the camp ground just past harpers ferry on the C&O canal. its about 65 miles. then we wake up eat in harpers ferry and come back thru the tip of west virginia into virginia and come home on the W.O.D. which is about another 75 miles.
there is about 15 people confirmed at this point. about 7 are city bikes people. It should be fun.
no one will be dropped repeat no one will be dropped the pace will be moderate,I believe about 11 to 12 mph bring light camping gear and something like a cross bike as the C&O is quite rocky past great falls. everyone is welcome. email me if you want to come along. schottt2@hotmail.com
hope you guys are all doing fine.
I will try not to be such a stranger
h0lla Sol.
sounds like fun.

I have an idea for this but I lack to skills to execute. I've been trying to make it happen, but cannot do it to my satisfaction. So, would anyone like to coauthor with me? I'm looking for someone with really good illustrator and/or photoshop skills. I know there's someone out there (Booger I'm looking at you) that can help me out with this.
PM me if you're interested and I'll give you the pitch about my idea.

I'm that first-timer from last Friday who was stymied by a flat tire. You remember inspecting my tire, right? Thought it was clean?
I went through another tube before looking very closely a before I finally found a small piece of glass (way out on river rd., of course).
So I laid down the $$ for a set of 28mm Specialized Armidillos and hopefully I will be able to ride with you all next month. You seem like a fun group.
Thanks too tink for the presta-schrader adapter.

Lebowitz,
The Armadillo's are great but they most important thing is to keep your tire pressure at max, use a floor pump at least once a week. If not your own, then use the one at your local store. Too bad on the glass, that is nearly the hardest (wire is the worst).
