Man that sucks Booger. She almost had a new friend too cuz Re and I just finished her IRO yesterday. Damn shame, but I've heard good things about insurance claims, so best of luck with that.

Any special plans for CM tommorow?
I think this is the time to make a real frenzy of it.

Everyone ride your sunday ride and BRING A FRIEND.

BTW. I am selling stuff. TONS OF STUFF.

The vast majority of what I have is stems and bars, so fixie folks can have a field day.

Booger bike, I can help with your bike.

I will be teaching the fix a flat class at citybikes tonight 6:30 and modeling the new city knickers. Come by, learn some new skills, viz the new threads and have a beer.

NYC to RVA, wow, thats interesting! Used to be the same way with Phillie, w NYC being the hub. Now there is direct DC to Phillie. btw: I need to be in NYC on Monday the 17th, so if you need a ride back up that weekend. I'll be stopping in Bensonhurst, Kings Hway "N"

EVANYC. try to hitch a ride. It can usually be done between richmond and dc pretty easily. 100 miles. truckers are doing it all the time and like the company. carry pepper spray.

nice vintage bike with lots of style points. Not sure about the upgrade-ability. If you show up at a pillage with that, I would be very jealous.

Ideas about Hains:

1. riding along waiting to be consumed by the thursday evening "train" is bitter sweet
2. mid and end of pack riders who pedal pedal coast coast pedal pedal coast coast ...SUCK
3. guy on old raleigh track bike with the disc wheel is MAD MAD fast
4. bike and other kit is no indication of rider ability or pace line savy-ness
5. loose a beat and you are squeezed out of the draft, miss tagging on the last rider and you are done
6. holding DCM's rear wheel for half a lap trying to say "hello" and then see her explode thru the roundabout is something not to forget
7. If you are really tenacious, you can get dropped...twice!

Not sure about the upgrade-ability.

you kiddin?

Components
Crankset: Dura Ace

Rear brakes: Campagnolo

Front brakes - Campagnolo

Front and rear hubs: Dura Ace

Headset - Chris King

Wheels: Mavic Reflex

Pedals: Richtie

Seat & Post: Flite Titanium

Rear derailleur: Dura Ace

Front derailleur: Shimano 600

that alone is worth the current top bid

Lots of it is "vintage",
would work very well none the less....
but look who you are talking to :)

What is the rear cluster? looks like a cassette, but can't be sure. If that has already been upgrade from the late 70's 6 spd free wheel , then GO GO GO!

GOOD LUCK ZAKED!

timeout: that frame is a collectable Sachs rarity, if you ask me.

Why?
It's a Cinelli BB shell. This is from before RS had his own lugs made. And the fork crown RS was something Sachs abandoned in favor of his logo in the early 80's. Totally old school.

+1 to Peter: Marriage is trouble. YMMV of course.

As for afterward: Party at Chelsea's. If the climb up Connecticut isn't enough for you after CM, you obviously need to ride laps at Hains on Sunday.

Oh, and word to the wise: Those portable barriers are back on Pennsylvania in front of the White House; might be good to try to avoid 'em tonight.

Somebody else in the pack cut him off and he fell in front of the bus on L street. So, I'm sure I'll be yelled at for this but, WTF was up with last night? Are we advocating, or just ****ing with traffic? CM seemed really counter procuctive last night. It just seemed aggressive as hell, and IMO that doesn't help us at all.

dirtyphotons
07-08-06, 12:00 PM
i think cm has always been a lot more high minded in theory than in practice.

glad you're ok deuce. see you guys tomorrow.

07-08-06, 12:15 PM
Thanks guys - I'm ok. The dude who ****ing poking along way at the back as we were rolling east on L thought it would be a good idea to be a try to race the tallbike and cut me off. Grabbed my front brake and pushed back on the pedals, couldn't avoid tagging his rear wheel. Goddamn people who don't know to ride. Then he gave me attitude when I told to watch out for other people (I was even polite!). ****er.
No injuries, just pissed at him; he and his other blockhead buddy took off before we hit Adams Morgan.

Regardless, CM was fun. I always like spinning with you all. Big welcome to Osman (sorry if I'm mis-spelling!): No probation for you, what with putting up with the cop and all.

See you all at Hains and the movie tomorrow. Yarrr!

last night was a blast at CM, i think three years of frustrations with cars in DC boiled out , i was giddy with the satisfaction of watching how helpless drivers were with the stream of bikes ... did the police nab one of us on pennsylvania or was that just a rumor?

dirtyphotons: nice to meet you and thanks for introducing yourself. I'm attaching photos of my unknown steel fuji that I want to turn into a fixed gear. I say it's a fuji because of the stamping on the top of the fork, otherwise it's been (badly) powdercoated. I bought the frameset+drivetrain from the doorman of my building in midtown who was an ex-courier for $20 -- hey, it's not pretty, but I've had some very smooth satisfying rides with it before i built my current alum rig.

seeing how much fun everyone was having on fixed last night has got me a hankering to convert this bike and join in. First I'm wondering if this frame is suitable for conversion. I'm not good with wheels or hub adjustment , but I got the dough , tools, and time if someone could help me out (i live on T and 18th) I will make it worth the while
