I couldn't go out tonight cause the first episode of project runway was on... it had nothing to do with the rain.

Welcome James! Get ready to pillage! (unless P.R. is on bravo...)

ryand,
He did the vespa at district line. I have seen a number of them. I love his humor. Why do you ask?

Julie,
Stop assuming you know what I said then or what I mean now. Lets keep our issues between us and play nice in public, OK?

I am not steering anything. I was having a discussion among friends about a topic that interested us. I resent people policing the discussion and trying to rule the group. I find the drama petty.
Please stop.

Who is lacking bikes or looking to upgrade? I found a great resource and would like to help them sell their stuff (non-profit, international development). Additionally, it will help to get buts on great bikes for great prices.

Who is interested in making trailers? Joel?

James, what is that frame? (and welcome)

Hey kids, Spud's in the hospital, prolly a concussion. I don't know what happen and from the sound of it neither does he, I got to the scene late and a bunch of pirates were already there. But he was apparently alone when whatever happened, happened. I know this much... He is at GW hospital, thank god or whatever you thank, that he was wearing a helmet. We all love Spud, so lets see that he is well taken care of to the best of our abilities. Dirty and Rawk went to the hospital with him so I'm sure they'll post more. Be well, be safe.

besides a little wetness on the way up, and a very unfortunate incident (sorry 'bout that spud, hope the stitches go well?) and a flat at the bridge which made my ride back to alexandria uncomfortable, it was a good night... hopefully I can still wake up in the am to go to wrok.

thanks guys. rock.

firstly and most importantly, as far as we can tell, spud's okay.

he seems pretty much his normal self, although he still doesn't remember much of what happened. luckily some passers-by stopped to help (thanks michael and kathleen) and he got in touch with noah, who was with us at the big hunt. when we got there he was conscious and responsive, but clearly needed some stitches. the ambulance was there quickly and took him to gw.

just got back from the er where they're going to keep him overnight to do some scans and keep an eye on him, but that's routine for head trauma. in the er he seemed pretty much his normal self (i.e. pissed that they wouldn't let him get up or move). best wishes spud, we'll be thinking about you.

and in case you don't remember, rpc's got your bike.

please be safe out there everybody. helmets save lives.

Spud! Glad that it wasn't more serious. Let us know if there's anything you need.

Team Codeine takes on a new member; at this rate, we'll soon totally overlap with the Pirates.

Stay safe out there everyone.

any way we pirates-from-afar can help out the spudster?

and ben, i'm sorry, but i'm a pirate, and i'm not going to just walk away because i'm pirating from afar now. i love this organization, and keeping it open and welcoming as well as keeping it real (it's not CM!) means alot to me. i'm sorry you insist on bringing the drama and trying to rule the roost... before your big CM push the pirates were in agreement on all this. maybe if you just, as i've suggested again and again, plan the events you preach about and see who shows up and whether people like it, you'll have your answers.

I asked because I found it interesting...

I'm looking for an old three speed to convert to a rain bike. So basically frame, fork, fenders, stem, and bars.
Looking for 52-54cm. Know of anybody/anything?

I just called the hospital. He is fine, but they are still going to keep him a little longer. He couldn't get to the phone though.
And he's still in the ER department.

Rincewind and photons have this report, live from GW hospital:

He crashed and fell face first, with a helmet on. Spud's face is pretty bruised up and swollen, but he's ok. They did CT scans and found no problems with his brain and the cuts aren't real deep or serious, but he did black out during the crash.

He's ok now but a bit bruised.

More info to follow, i assume.

yup, what chimbly said. saw spud at lunch time, he seemed in good spirits. still no memories of the crash itself, but he remembers most of the rest of the journey. i was saying how if he was hit from behind, there might not be much to remember. either way, he's doing well. as i was leaving they were admitting him into the regular part of the hospital for rehab.

he was appreciative of all the well wishes, and sends his warmest regards:

Nothing broken, i should be released tonight or tomorrow theyre cautious because i do not really remember what happened. I am pretty sure i was hit or was trying to avoid being hit. LBK, welcome back.

Spud, I now have your bike, it'll be all fixed up and waiting.

Everyone, looking back on it, I think I was the first to gripe about CM. I sure as hell didn't mean for it to turn in to what it has. Honestly I was just askin a question. So, sorry for my part in it. I agree with what Booger said about friends and politics. Lets not let this get too big, I'd hate for this to turn bad, you folks are way too awesome for that.

Evan, great meeting you.

pardon my double/triple/etc postings:

thanks all, i was riding by myself to meetup with the rest of the pirates and evanyc (i dont think we've met at any of the alleykittens or monstertrack), cruising along and all of a sudden i was going over the handlebars with that oh noooooo! feeling and then smack on the pavement.
yeah i dont know what went wrong, no witnesses saw what happened, most likely a car hit/tapped me from the rear, or front, i dont remember. i endo-ed and facplanted, i hear my bike Cha-ruzu is okay, and wheels will be trued, thanks pirates! and i have to say those paired-spoke xero wheels are amazingly strong!
i had a few visitors today at the hospital bringing me lunch and things to read, it was very nice, they even took me all the way home to my family :) it feels much better than it looks and looks even better than when that photo was taken around 11am this morning. first time having stitches or being in the ER or a hospital since i was 2 or 3.

family is giving me an earful about riding bikes at night. i think i'm going to have to go reflective-crazy on my bag and new helmet and get some new brighter lights. ride safe ya'all, helmets all the time (if youre helmet-friendly) and in numbers; in the shock of the accident, i vaguely remember trying to find my bloody glasses and get back on my bike to keep going, crazy.

Evan, great meeting you.we'll have to try again when one of us isn't suffering from memory loss.

John, very happy you are out of the hospital. I told the nurse last night that she needed to up yer dose of morphine. I hope she did. It was hella scary calling your family to tell them you where in the hospital. And your sister got to the hospital very quickly. Tell her not to drive so fast:)

As you guys noticed, I am the poster formerly known as MDRawk. I never really cared for that name and i don't live in MD anymore (although it will always be near to my heart). This is noah's (the one and only original) new name.
