My mountain crank and engagement ring combo is very cheap and actually better than Sugino 75's.
.
Cheaper for sure, but how are they better? serious question.
yes Mongolians, http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/07/02/AR2006070200875.html. second mongolian festival event i've done this year.

I am long time lurker and first time poster. I found a spray paint product that goes on basically clear ,but is reflective when light hits it. I am going to do my bike, but it already has a spray paint finish anyways, I am not sure I would use it on a factory finish that you like at least . This might be of interest for those looking to improve their safety. I found it at the home depot on rhode island.
Rash- I think you're supposed to spray this stuff on your license plate to keep from getting redlight camera tickets. It makes the whole plate reflect back when the flash goes off... Don't see why you couldn't paint your bike with it... Sounds good actually, let us know how it works out.

Thanks for pointing me to the previous discussion (about horizontal dropouts). I didn't mean to open old wounds with the post, but appreciate all the advise given.
Sorry I couldn't make the party on Saturday. It was my wifes birthday, and after 4 or 5 Makers I wasn't in much of a shape to make introductions. I will make the next Wedesday pillage (26th?) and hopefully pick your brains some more then.

hey DC types... three of us are coming down to your fine city for the tour de lemond and you guessed it, two of us need a couch/floor/dog kenel to crash on! so if any of you are racing (or not) and don't mind some company it would be greatly appreciated. we're really looking forward to this race, and i'm especially looking forward to following the fastest DC wheel i can find. (=
The Saturday PPTC ride was great! It was almost a metric for me and Peter - I had to get back in time to drive to Baltimore so I cut out last loops by MacArthur Ave. The route does in fact start from Dupont Circle, meanders through Georgetown and upper NW and eventually ends up way north on River Road where it starts to loop back and then ends on Rock Creek Park or CCT. I can make copies of the route, it might be fun to do it weekend after next.

That pptc ride was fun, but I'm so pissed at the way I bonked half way thru. Think I was pushing too hard in the beginning and kept pushing thru the climbs on a high gear. Will do better next time.
I'm in Brooklyn right now, should have taken a bike and hit the prospect pk races.
Will be in OC this coming weekend, so can't play the tour or host any out of towners...sorry

Got to hains late on sunday and there was no one at the club house at 12, so did a few laps. Helped a freind adjust her bike, ran into geistin, chatted w 2 guys with wicken fg kit (fresh painted blue waterford) and got back at 3 to mis the emergency pillage.
Since people think we have a pillage on wednesday, lets pillage on wednesday!
alright, i'm back in brooklyn with internet access!
thanks to all the pirates who showed me a good time, especially john and ryan. sorry the night ended the way it did, but i like the way you folks roll!
spud - hope you're feeling better. we met briefly back at the dumbo scramble. i was lookin forward to seeing ya again. sucks that it ended up being with a busted face. glad you're ok overall though.
hope i can return the favor for some pirates in NYC soon.

Well I made the police show up, but the ambulance never came!
I know I wanted to get some laps since I'm out for the rest of the week. I won't get out of work until 6 though, can't be at Hains until around 7. Anyone up for pillaging tonight? Tomorrow I'm leaving for Buffalo until Sunday.
i don't get off work until 6 either. come on with the 6:30 pillages already.

On Tuesday, PPTC has a ride out of Dupont 6pm Mitchell Park, that is pretty good, goes out to great falls and comes back via MacArthur Blvd. Some lively folks there, and some slower ones as well.

The Boogerspud is perfect, because it's the day before I go away for two weeks. Is this my opportunity to be inducted into Team DFL?
wow thanks guys. any chance we could move it back an hour? or start with individual time trials? damn work schedule.

This sounds like a lot of fun. If I can pull together the parts for my new IRO maybe we could wrench it after the ride. I got to call the insurance company today to see when I can get my check.

07-19-06, 09:06 AM
Spud, 4:00 or 6:00? And sure we can move it to either.
Booger, do you need temp parts until you get yer insurance taken care of? I have stuff.
Incidentally, I am now off my bike for a while due to some poor decision making at work. Cable snapped and hit me in the Fcuking knee. It's large and pretty colors!
that sounds like a lot of fun...
so who is down for a ride/pillage tonight.
Meet at 7-7:15 at 14th and K.
Ride around for a bit, hit up dirty's show, ride around for a bit.
Stop at a bar or two...
Anybody?
Dude, we're dropping like flies ... and its not even cause of alcohol.
I'm so game for this! Can we do team time trials? Seeing some clips of CSC TTT's gotten me hooked. Individual would be fun too. Might not make the pillage, have to be at my friend's house in Balitmore to drive up to Buffalo in the morning. If anything, I'll be at Hains doing laps around 6:30.

I still haven't fixed my flat from last week's ride :o I've been busy... got a new frame, new wheels... now I need to work out what gearing I need on these Alexandria hills get the proper cog and dura-ace lockring, front brake, pedals (clipless) and shoes, and I'll be (finally) riding fixed. oh yeah, and tubes, patch kit, and frame pump since I always seem to be getting more flats than necessary. I'm going to run 35s, so hopefully that'll be better for flats
wish I could get my bike done in time to come to tonights pillage, maybe next week.
-rocks-
Good luck rocks. If you need any help building it... umm ask somebody else, but i'll come with them! I wish I were a better mechanic. :o

THE BOOGERSPUD INVITATIONAL!!!!!
Invitation accepted, assuming that there is cheese involved somehow, even if I have to BMOC. Looking forward to it!
I have an idea for the boogerspud... somebody should bring a grill or something and a cooler full of frinks, and you can sell food and drinks real cheap for additional money. if you get me a grill, i'll grill food all day even though it means missing races. :)

grilling shall be done (i'm not sure, but i seem to recall there might be grills there somewhere. i'll investigate) and no races need be missed. i'd like to make a nice afternoon/evening out of it.
hooray for food. so anybody up for a ride to the show tonight?...

Thanks, but I am cool. I am rocking my gears for now. Better for my knee. I have just started to ride again. I am keeping my self to 4 miles a day. Next week i'm moveing up to to 8. I can afford to replace my frame without the insurance money, if just nice to have the money in your hand.

hey dc police usually give you a ticket when you are hit by a car, if your are ticketed you have little recourse b/c it makes the accident your fault.
So, try not to get a ticket. I would venture to say even to the point of avoiding cops. Get a plate number, name, phone number and insurance company. (needless to say, check their ID).
If you have the plate number and they refuse to give you more info I believe it goes as a hit and run.

Any one need anything at Performance? They have free shipping and 10% off $100 or more. The free shipping ends today. I still may order, but I only need $40 worth of stuff.

http://www.trackstarnyc.com/newimage/coney1.jpg
Yes. That's 2 days before I go back to nights and weekends at work.
The secret to 5 day weekends: Use a steel plate and D ring to secure a load bearing AC cable to the ground. Apply repeated and increased horzontal tension to said cable. When the tension becomes too great and the plate pulls out of the floor, throw your knee in front of it and BINGO! 5 day weekend!
i would love to go up to coney again. i loves me some brooklyn.

yeah, well the car/truck/whatever had already left the scene, so it was a hit and run. point is (in third district) if the police dont show up (or drive by and dont stop when there is someone bleeding on the side of the road) on the scene and you want to file a report later they get all indignant and accuse you of lying.
and getting a plate number isnt always easy. ride with others if you can...
