Hey kids! Grilling a fruit pie is an easy way to get noticed at any sock-hop or ho-down! Just look at how many people noticed Nathan here when he started grilling his fruit pie:

off topic: I'm at the LOC today and yesterday, I see this awesome PINK thing with black skulls and crossbones, pink grips, pink deep V's and relative awesomeness... anyone know this bike? it's SS on a velocity flip-flop hub, no fixie on the other side. looks like custom paint/powercoat? I haven't a clue, but no markings on it.

If you only listened and showed up. (hint: check LBK's phot set)

Jesus! They actually make you work in cubicles? I thought those were like a Dilbert urban myth, a relic from '80's open plan offices.

That isn't the norm stateside for office work is it? Because I'm looking for work and am not totally convinced I could do the cubicle living thing.

Living in a cubicle is rather unusual (I know a case), but working in a cubicle is not uncommon.

Britpac!!!! BritpAAAAAAAC!!! Where are you, man? There's another Londoner here and we want to make him feel at home in our humble thread. Britpac? Maybe he's out of town or something?

Anyway, I find the norm is a sort of semi-cubicle that where half the wall is about waist high so you can talk easily to your neighbor. Kind fo like this, but with lower walls.

Now doesn't that just look as comfy as a country home? Just makes you wanna work doesn't it.

it is just like being in prison, but without the showers.

office space is prime real estate and not always tied to your responsibility, but often to who is the best brown noser.
however, shouldn't the people who popularized "The Office" know this? :)

My cube isn't the worst thing I've ever seen. I'd rather be here than some of the "offices" i've seen. You know, the ones on the inside fo the building without a window so it seems like you work in a cave. I at least get a window in my cubicle.

But I'm the office dirtbag. Tight jeans, t-shirts, tattoos, and slip-ons. I totally am a misfit here. I kinda like it...

But rivetting as this talk of cubicles and stinkage is, I must bid adieu. I'm off to Hawaii, to pillage (sin bicicleta) amongst the lawyers and the surfers. See you all in two weeks!

so i just got a phone call from a very excited friend. he just bought a late 70s derosa nuevo classico with suzue hubs, mavic ma3s, gatorskin tires, and the other components i'm unaware of. he said he got a really got deal so i told him to bring it down to dc and let me ride it.

point being: who wants to go out to hains some day(probably next weekend) when he brings it down and do some laps until hes more comfortable (unless he is already comfortable) and then go pillaging and maybe end up with a swim and/or some food somewhere?

also, a pillage is being thought up for noah deuce's return from paradise. it will probably have some sort of hawaiin/tropical something. maybe fruity tropical cocktails and hawaiin punch for team shirley temple? the date on that will be tuesday august 15.

Hey awesome, I will be back from my trip on the 18th. We had one this year but how about another Rum Runners?

Tiki Bar opened up on Clarendon Blvd ...
Dreamo's used to have an outdoor beach bar...
The Big Hunt?
There's also Zanzibar on the waterfront, but I think its more of a club than a bar ...

Tonight at 6:30 we will be meeting at Sherwood. Photons and I are going to be heading over hit some trails in the direction of Vienna. We have no goal or planned route, but everybody is more than welcome to show up and ride. We will call this a "I'm going ****ing crazy and need to ride my bike" pillage. Bring something to drink and come ready to ride. This should be fun. Hope to see many there.

*If we are gone when you show up, give a call. Three15 Seven29. Forty-eight14.

*edit: we are not going to Revolution first.

Running around Hains point Saturday was a lot of fun. I wasn't even dead last in my first race! In my second race, Bruce Springsteen's Born To Run was on the radio, and when the race started, Gn'R's Paradise City was on! It was good to put some name to face. Morrison, wearing his pirate shirt. Baldylocks gave me a spokecard. Well, I'm rocking it now. Some Pirate s*** on my wheel! I was wishing I had that grilled sausage and zuchinni the next day at work. Next time, don't let me be lazy and make me throw stuff in my bag.

I want to put together a ride for Monday the 28th. I am finding other people off on Mondays now, and am going to make a monday ride work. Haven't totally planned it yet, but it will start around 5:30 at 32nd and Bunkerhill RD, Mt Rainier, just on the other side of the NE DC borderline. This is my old neighborhood and there's cool stuff to see, the house that the kid who inspired The Exorcist story had lived and scared his mom, Blood Run/Dueling Grounds where DC and Bladensbug noble-men went to duel. Where a local militia lost to British forces who ended up burning the white house. An old gangster gambling den. Even more..so much fine history. I'm hoping to end it at Franklin's Restaurant in Hyattsville, good food, not cheap, but it's local and Chuck brews ale there!

Man I won't be able to make either of the rides for tonight -- work sucks.

We did hire a new Systems Admin though, so I'm switching shifts to an actual 9-5 but it won't happen for a few more weeks.

Anyone going to CM this week or is that a bad word now? :)

RedDeMartini
08-02-06, 03:53 PM
Though CM is not a pirate event, pirates are DC area cyclists and have a vested interest in the effect that CM has on cycling in this town. It can work for us if we are involved and against us if we are not. Also there is beer afterwards.

I would like to do it, I would like to work with other available pirates and I would like to make it fun?
Anyone interested?

Boombox, fliers, flags, costumes, freak bikes, route and finishing line (bar/restaurant).

I will ride my DH bike in costume, anyone with me?

However I am sitting on few helmets here.

Anyone need a really big high end Giro?

Chris and Noah can buy helmets at 2/3 from the shop.

I am trying it on a helmet shell, knickers, and maybe I will do a frame.

Anyone want to try? BTW who is in the greater central plateu region (AM, columbia heights and mount pleasant)

I can't miss the pivotal day of the month! Like the full moon, the call of Critical Mass pulls the tide in my veins! I will be there friday with two cowbells and the Incendiary Flag of Fire, and of course, a soundtrack. I'll be there by 6 to incite a discussion on how people want to ride and where people want to go, and push my own agenda of a NorthEastward ride. I want to hang out afterwards -somewhere with beer and popsicles.

Bring something that makes noise with just one hand, we'll be a real rockNrolling band this Friday!

Yay to more boomboxes!! I want more people to blast it. Walkmen to ipods -a dangerous trend. We can't be so isolated to ourselves. Share your tunes with your neighbor and bring back the boombox! Make an outdoor gathering a party with just 6 size D batteries! Bring your tunes on a boombox! The mixtape lives!

And more flags too! Oh, man just imagine it! A crowd of bikers with flags! My next flag to make will be a black flag with a white fish in the middle, I thought fish bones at first, but just may do a Catfish -most of which in the Anacostia river have cancer due to vehicle emission runoff according to the Anacostia Watershed Society.

I made my neighbor a Flag of Fire for their birthday. They are so happy that it has been erect on the front porch for over a week now, for the world to see.
