i may be at CM this friday, but it depends on which bus i end up taking. i get to see some of my family again this weekend, so i'm pretty psyched on that. if i'm not there, have fun and please try to stay as a group rather than stringing 30 riders out for an entire block, thats just dangerous. if a car gets in the middle of that it won't be fun.

yeah, we had some resident engineers come up with ideas and the one we settled on was the PVC/club bit. They were fun to build, we drank alot, they lasted ok for a few months. I think you could rehab them and make the design work with a little more loctite, but it's all good.

City Bikes in G-Town?

So that's Revolution, Bicycle Pro shop, Big Wheels and a City Bikes all inside of a quarter mile of each other!

Yeah I got the Fuji late yesterday, took it for a short ride last night and a ride today. To be perfectly honest, I don't know if fixed gear is for me. Obviously I haven't gotten used to it yet, and I'm pretty sure I would rather have bullhorns, but I have more fun on my road bike. I'll give it some more time though.

well, working in georgetown, that gives me one more place to spend lunch break.

plus i kinda like city bikes, especially on comparison to pro shop.

also try flat bars and downhill bars, they are also popular esp among working riders.
Keep the brakes and take some time with it, it is really different.

Kudos on your frankness. Road bikes have so many advantages over fixed gears and yet the recent popularity of the latter can blind us to their to their shortcomings.

Which also makes this great time to buy old road bikes.

you enter as individuals, but for guys, the pricing is based on whether you're accompanied by a woman. the goal is to get more women racing, and to get the guys to help turn out the ladies. There are enough women riding- trust me- they just need to be convinced. I foresee guys paying women's registration and taunting them with the free beer that will await at the finish line.

the drive is long, but not as long if you have lots of hard candy. i would suggest not bringing current- and most recent ex- boyfriends in the same car.

for the drive, will i need to leave dc in the morning, or will i be able to work that day and head out around 6:30?

yeah, the bars (just to verify, these are road drops, chopped off) are wrapped. and they're not worth a sixer of my favorite, so guiness or sierra nevada will do nicely. if you cant find them, anything really. we're not fancy here.
