I didn't know there is a SAE (http://www.sae.org/servlets/index) century... :p
I just registered for the Sea Gull Century.
Is anyone up for a 'warm-up' century (http://bikepptc.org/web_final/)? I did that last year (the pictures proof it) and it was fun.
www.seagulling.com/gear-oil.htm ???
You know, actually I figure Rince would be the only one to remember SAE vice Metric.

Unlike Rince, I really don't enjoy fixed centuries. But on a roadie..... :D

Why did I decide to do law school? Centuries, Nats Pillages, and all the other fun stuff - totally inaccessible because I've signed my life away. Blegh. *grin*
We doing laps on Sunday?

Hey, I get to join the Got Hit club!
DC Parking Enforcement van tagged me when I was going into Adams Morgan over the Calvert Bridge - stupid driver was facing away and talking to her passengers when she made a left turn, hit my rear wheel.
I'm fine (other than a scraped knee and being generally pissed) - pics go up later. Bike's fine - I think my special plastic Armadillo tire saved everything by totally skidding out.
Oh, and cops suck too.
And now I REALLY need some laps with you all on Sunday. See you at Haines!

Doesn't look like this rain is going to clear before CM. Who's planning to do it anyway?

Although my bike's rear tire is so worn down that it is like the wheel on an F1 car, I'll probably still come out... and then probably crash into an SUV and be the first ever CM martyr

Deuce.
You got hit by a govt. vehicle while she had PASSENGERS?
Man, you gotta call Jonny Cochran.
No, I'm serious.
Call him.
LBK.
I hear you got a deal. I think you should go with it, but I don't know if you ought to ride the frame.
I honestly don't know who the best person would be to check the frame but I would get that done before you really work it.
CRITICAL MASTERS?
I think I am going to pass. I got my Brother in town and he doesn't want to ride, but instead have dinner. Anyone else going?
Anyone want to buy some of this stuff I am selling?
What are folks up to tommorow night or next weekend.
I am going to be single and would like to do some riding and a little drinking with friends.
Haines?
i'll be at cm in my rain gear...
prepare for the laughing.

it's terrible that your frame was totalled and that dc gov is going to have to buy you a new rivendell. just remember to add the cost of all the components when you submit the bill.
ps-;)

Thanks everyone.
I've had enough rain for one day - three hours out in it plus the close encounter of the stupid kind has me enjoying being inside, without goretex on.
I'm still weighing my options on the complaint front - if I don't get an apology when I file my complaint, I may be talkin' to Cochran (I hear he does good work from beyond the veil). *grin*
And Julie - I'm pickin' up what you layin' down.

How about a longer ride after the laps and the cheese on sunday?

what the f***? I must admit that is the funniest thing that has been on my screen in quite some time. I hope those who went out in the rain had fun. I worry about the drivers in this city when the roads are dry and it's bright out. I have no desire trying their patience under such adverse conditions. Hopefully we will see you on Sunday.
four man mass until we passed my apartment, followed directly by a three man mass. i had to get the bus and ran home like a baby so i could dry off to get wet again.
anyhow, have a safe weekend everybody. i'll be back monday morning not sunday morning(sorry, wasn't thinking)
anybody up for some sort of fun event monday? (even though my sister forgot zack's gift)

I got home from work last night and took off my shoe and turned it upside down and water poured out like I had just jumped in a gross, oily pond. You're braver than I to ride in CM last night, I just wanted out of the wetness :)
There were some traffic lights out last night in Hyattsville and no one was stopping! That's supposed to be a four way stop, right?? What a mess.

Critical Mass was alive by five last night. After Ryan left the rain, Max from Chain Reaction appeared and rode with us! "Hey! Is this Critical Mass?", she shouted. The boombox blasted from within a giant plastic bag, producing the word "Epic" when I asked Ryan what he thought of the song 'Navajo Joe' by Ennio Morricone. Spud defiled the disco flavorings of the mixtape. In the end, like Spud said, it wasn't a mass. But mass wasn't dead in Septembers first friday anyway. Rain isn't going to stop me if I've gotten off work, maybe me being my late self will though.
Noah Deuce, glad you fared well enough in that collision. I'd like to hear how things proceed.
I'm hunting down any gathering on Monday after work!
Arrrrgghh. So I finally decide on a new bike, and they are completely sold out of that model everywhere. No 59cm rush hours in any of the DC bike stores, and no more coming! Christ.

I have a gas grill that can be fired up at any time today... Ryan and I are hanging out here and are gonna blaze up the welder... Tall bikes? Sidecar? Tow along...? who knows. come on by and perhaps we'll even ride our bikes.
Bring something to toss on the grill or we'll make a trip up to the Giant a few blocks up...

I'll be coming round tonight! I got your number, Ryan and Joel! Maybe I'll tow all the audio equipment thus far acquired for the improvised audible device of my dreams so we can ponder and dream together.
