that tall bike was amazing fun. lets raise the seat, put on a 65 degree stem and some drop bars. now were talking...

plus "welding" a hole through that bar was fun too...

ON A COMPLETELY UNRELATED NOTE, Joel said he planned to have a prototype by this week's polo.

I vote Wednesday. I think spud was the only person who mentioned Thursday. Let's figure this out.

I vote Wednesday as well, for I will be out of town Thursday. I have the old mallets at my place, so if you guys decide Thursday, somebody has to pick them up from me by Wednesday.

note: my vote is only because im selfish and want to play polo.

the point behind thursday was so that shane could play (he works mon-wed). don't worry, he's promised to still take us to the red lion afterwards. maybe we oughta do one more wed and move permanently to thurs?

Long story short, but Phontons drops by this weekend with his girl and is like "I got a present for you" I'm like "what?", and hes like "come out side", and Im like "what?". (we did not us the word like at all, but I thought I would spice this up)

He brought over this old red schwinn, and was like, here you go.

I have been fixing up my other bike, so I was bike less, but now I am not bike less and I think photons is the coolest.

I am not the coolest, because when I took it out for the first time, I could not get out of the clips and fell over in an intersection. I felt like an ass.

Does anybody know this guy Darryl who sells bikes on CL? I've noticed he sometimes is selling as many as 6 or 7 per week. I was going to email him abuot one but wanted to see if he was on here?

Probably just a bike shop owner but I thought it was a little fishy that he always has so many different bikes for sale (ranging from Huffy to Fuji, kids to pro).

Looks like junk to me... $25 you get what you pay for. Better to spend $40 at Chain Reaction and get something you know is good.

Tap those cotters out of the crank arms with a hammer (assuming both bolts are removed from the cotter pins). Then use a plastic mallet (or a metal hammer, if you don't mind destroying the cranks) and bang those sumb1tches off. It will probably be a pain in the butt.

You probably know this already but just to make sure; you are going to need, at the least, a new spindle (most likely a new spindle & BB) that is tapered if you plan to use a new crankset. Cottered and tapered spindles are not compatible.

The truvativ crankset will work, but keep in mind that on a fixed/ss you'll only need 1 chainring, so make sure you can remove the others easily (this may involve buying a track pin set for something like $15).

Everyone has to learn sometime. Recommend that you do some searching on the net about bike parts and how they all fit together. You will have a better appreciation for what to look for when considering a build.

when comes to finding fixie parts:

best shop to keep your sense of humor because they will get annoyed at you after the 100 other people who asked the same damn fixie question that day - citi bikes adams morgan
best "junk yard wars" bike shop - chain reaction - North Cap and P
best shop to be laughted out the door - pro-shop - geo town
best shop on the same block as pro-shop - revolution - geo town
best shop not worth crossing into VA - revolution - wilson blvd
