Introductions - Hey from Marquette, Michigan

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hello everyone!
I found this forum pretty randomly, looked around and decided to join! I just got a Rocky Mountain Soul the other day, my first not-from-Wal-Mart bike, heh. I use it mostly for commuting, but get out on the trails on the weekends. Nice to meet all of you :)

Greetings! There are several UP members floating around here so you may bump into some folks that are (relatively) nearby. Riding time is getting short up there, isn't it?

Go Wildcats! Mom got her Master's there. I'm a Laker (LSSU) and my sister's a Chippewa (CMU). Lived in Hessel (just south of the Soo) fo rmy first 20 years. Had to move to make some money. Not many jobs in my little town.

Have fun UP there, Marquette rocks for mountain biking... too bad the season's going to end soon. Have you ridden Mount Marquette from the carp river to the lookout then the ski hill and back to town? It's a real nice ride that doesn't take too long. The colors are probably really nice right now.
I love Marquette. My daughter went to school there. What a great place! I'm thinking of semi-retireing to Marquette. Summers there, winters here near Chicago. I was thinking of buying a couple homes near NMU and becoming a college student slum lord. What-a-u-think?

Hey hey!
My girlfriend is going to NMU right now (she can't ride though, broke her ankle really badly, she's happy with walking for now). I might be heading on up there too Fall 2006. If you wanna be a slum lord, gimme a good rate :)

Get to Marquette about twice a year from Chicago. We got a new interest in folding bicycles for travel and did some in the UP this summer...Love Art on the Rock!
eh Don...What takes you to Marquette? Since my daughter graduated from NMU we don't get over there much. We do have a place in the western UP, Ironwood, that we get to a couple times a year. Marquette's a great place....quite a while ago Otto Preminger used the loacation to shoot "Anatomy of a Murder" with Lee Remick, James Stewart, and John Cassaveties (sp?). It's available on tape.

Welcome! When is the color gonna peak up there?
I was in Sault Ste. Marie, MI all summer (my home town) but I'm back in Big Rapids, MI for school. The UP rocks for biking, lots of roads and trails - nice woods, etc...
