Winter Cycling - Here ity comes!

No it's not winter yet, but . . .
Last evening I had to take the lights along on my ride, and had to use them to get home (and it wasn't even cloudy). I guess it won't be long before I gota get out the tights and long johns!

Man that summer went fast! :mad:

Still summer, here!! High of 90 F (32 C) yesterday, today and tomorrow. I'm getting a little tired of it, actually. I enjoy the cool fall weather as much or more than the hot summer stuff.
I still have to buy lots of clothes and stuff for winter riding, anyway. It looks like I have lots of time. :)

Ive been using lights all summer. Seems a pity to restrict riding to the daylight hours any time of year.

My test for winter is when my neckwarmer comes out of storage, and the full length gloves go back on.

I'm actually looking forward to those early morning rides in the mist, rain, snow and muck. One of my most memorable rides was last December, when the fog was so thick, you couldn't see ten metres in front of you. I have my tights, long-sleeved jerseys and wool all ready... Did I mention that I'm a cyclocrosser? The season is about to begin! :D

Well, on my early rides last weekend I needed my light AND my cycle jacket and cycle pants (worn over my shorts).

Of course, after the sun came up I was able to take the jacket and pants off.

I've noticed that if the temp is below 60 degrees F, I need something more than shorts and shirt.

There were a bunch of nuts out last weekend dressed in all their winter regalia, and it was only in the upper 50s to lower 60s. I was out in a T-shirt, with a windshirt and cycle shorts. I was over dressed, sweating, but the wind warranted the windshirt. Had I been in tights, arm warmers, hat and helmet, I'd have melted.

I did pull out the tights though about mid week, still too much clothing.

Don't like the Full length gloves just yet either, I need to get a set of cycle gloves that will fit over my liners.
